“Wouldn’t it be ‘tight’ if we could send just one kid a year to Wilderness?”—Parker

Mission

PBJF’s primary mission is to provide support and financial resources to Oregon & Washington families of adolescents & young adults in-crisis so they may find hope & healing through wilderness therapy programs. PBJF does this in 4 ways by: 1. Providing grants that are matched 100% or more by our wilderness program partners 2. Providing informational resources to families 3. Providing support for parents before, during & after their children’s participation in wilderness therapy programs through our Moms’ Tribe & Dads’ Tribe gatherings. 4. Providing community & recreational opportunities for wilderness therapy graduates of Oregon & Washington through our Wild Hearts Adventures & meet-ups. PBJF also promotes & supports suicide & concussion awareness & prevention efforts.

PBJ Wild Hearts

Wild Hearts is for adolescents and young adults from Oregon and Washington who have graduated or attended a wilderness therapy program from anywhere in the country offering hikes, backpacking, camping or simply meet ups around a campfire, for a game of disc golf, yoga or other activities of interest to the participants.
Wild Hearts is led by trained & qualified volunteer leaders who have experience working with youth and young adults in the educational and/or therapuetic fields.

These regular year-round meet-ups encourage connection, community & an opportunity to find & nurture healthy relationships and habits—reinforcing their wilderness therapy program experience.

Participants are encouraged to bring a supportive friend or sibling who can provide encouragement & be a bridge between the wilderness therapy program experience, residential treatment, therapuetic school & home.

Please visit us at PBJF.org and complete the simple Wild Hearts Interest Form to get involved.
