What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Nosapo is a 501 (C)(3) Massachusetts nonprofit organization that provides thoroughly researched, culturally sensitive, and demographic specific human rights, health, and educational resources. The growing phenomenon of forced long-term dependency, refugees and asylum seekers living in limbo with restrictions on the ability to be productive, denying these individuals the opportunity to make positive contributions to their host communities and their home states, frequently causes feelings of despair and hopelessness. Individualized education outreach will make a difference. Knowledge of the existence and application of these basic human rights, although idealist and not consistently upheld, can provide hope, and holding hope is empowering to those whose rights have been violated.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Arrivals To U.S.A. (Southern Border)

Information regarding how to apply for asylum safely, with the most accurate direction and current news on United States policies as well as policies in Arizona, California, and Texas. We have also listed key resources in Arizona, California, and Texas such as: social services (housing, meals, clothing), medical/healthcare services, legal aid, support for women, and organizations for children/unaccompanied minors. This information is also available to print in a brochure, abbreviated version in Spanish and English.

Population(s) Served
Immigrants and migrants
People of Latin American descent

Nosapo arrival materials encompass pertinent information for individuals arriving as refugees or asylum seekers to Italy, and may or may not wish to relocate to another country in the European Union.

Population(s) Served
Immigrants and migrants

Nosapo will provide free distribution of materials to five chosen schools or educational outlets (an educational program within an NGO or government organization) internationally. The materials provided will be: The Nosapo Human Rights Curriculum, Beginner ESOL Portfolio, and Intermediate ESOL Portfolio, and Nosapo’s facilitation manual: Teaching on the ground practices for mindful, grounded teaching.

Nosapo will solicit sponsorships from like-minded businesses and organizations aligned with our mission. For the remaining required funds that Nosapo does not receive from business and organization sponsorships, we hope to receive through grant solicitations. To sponsor one school or educational organization for the 2018-19 year, the cost is $1,000 for printing and distribution services. The goal for 2018-19 is to sponsor five schools or NGO educational programs, totaling $5,000 in necessary funds. For this program to be successful, Nosapo will connect with five carefully chosen schools or NGOs with an education program embodying the same principles of Nosapo; these five entities will be in five different countries, and we will translate all educational materials to provide materials in English as well as the native language(s) of those being served. The Nosapo Human Rights Curriculum, Beginner ESOL Portfolio, and Intermediate ESOL Portfolio, and Nosapo’s facilitation manual: Teaching on the ground practices for mindful, grounded teaching, will be translated into the following languages: Persian (Farsi), French, Spanish, Burmese, and Filipino. We are also interested in having translated materials readily available in: Swahili, Karen, Thai, Urdu, Arabic, and Tag a log. To distribute these materials, we will provide downloadable PDF versions of all four files. We will also cover the printing and shipment cost for materials to be sent to the site for facilitation. The quantity of each package of distributed materials will vary depending on the needs of the organization or school. When necessary and cost-effective, Nosapo will sponsor the printing cost for the materials to be printed at a business local to the school or organization.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Nosapo is a non-profit corporation and shall be operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code.

Nosapo’s purpose is to address, coordinate, and provide education and resources to displaced populations, disrupting the cycle of refugee warehousing. The members of Nosapo will research, compose and provide culturally sensitive and demographic specific human rights, health and education resources.

We provide education by deploying volunteers in areas of need, while on-field members of Nosapo education community members and leaders to create a sustainable cycle of education including our 3 projects: English Language, Health Literacy, and Human Rights. The corporation’s website is a venue to provide facts, statistics, and other related data on causes, current efforts and solutions to eradicating lack of education to displaced populations and the at-risk populations.

Our programs include sending out ambassadors to raise social consciousness about the mission on a local and global level.

To maximize our impact on current efforts, we may seek to collaborate with other non-profit organizations which fall under the 501(c) (3) section of the internal revenue code and are operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes.

We will provide internships or volunteer opportunities which shall provide opportunities for involvement in said activities and programs in order to have a greater impact for change.
