Grantmaking public charity
As a trusted comprehensive resource for philanthropists, community foundations enable you to establish community funds, designated funds, nonprofit agency endowments and more, including “donor-advised funds” — revenue-generating depositories for your charitable giving that we help you and your family manage, honoring your charitable intentions even after you pass away.

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is to improve the quality of life on Whidbey Island by providing support for the nonprofit sector, assisting donors to build and preserve enduring assets for charitable purposes, and meeting community needs through financial awards.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
As Whidbey’s only Island-wide community foundation, Whidbey Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people on Whidbey Island. The Foundation brings together the financial resources of individuals, families and businesses to support effective nonprofits in our Island community by introducing caring people to local causes that inspire them.
WCF also supports Island nonprofits through philanthropy, training and capacity-building. Strategies to achieve this are providing and promoting relevant, effective and subsidized/free of cost workshops on industry topics.
Finally, WCF is a trusted comprehensive resource for philanthropists and assists donors in establishing funds and make meaningful contributions and thoughtful long-term investments in Whidbey’s health and vitality.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With an active and dedicated Board and staff, WCF utilizes input from local nonprofits, Community Foundation cohorts, and dedicated research to make informed decisions about best practices to support the nonprofit community.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Whidbey Community Foundation has been humbled by the outpouring of community support shown by the generous donations to WCF’s COVID-19 Community Resilience Fund. With this Fund, WCF has been able to provide financial support and adapt to the shifting challenges faced by nonprofits, and the community’s most vulnerable populations. WCF continues to consult with nonprofits in the community to assess and respond to their changing needs during this global pandemic.
