What we aim to solve
Hurricanes and other storms can strike at any time. Individuals who are unable to leave can find themselves trapped by flood waters and debris. After storms, local resources are stretched thin and are often overwhelmed with the number of calls to emergency services. Lack of electricity and damages to stores from natural disasters leave little supplies on hand.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Search and Rescue
We work alongside government agencies to search for and rescue individuals.
Areas of Expertise:
Waterborne Search and Rescue (hurricanes, floods)
Land Based Search and Rescue (missing persons, tornadoes)
Debris Clearing
Our primary response includes debris clearing roads after storms. This allows easier access for law enforcement, fire, and EMS to respond to emergencies immediately after storms.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Cajun Navy Relief's goal is to save lives by providing immediate rescue and relief.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Cajun Navy Relief's social media team preemptively posts warnings and best practices for storm preparation. Cajun Navy Relief (CNR) provides immediate rescue of individuals who were unable to leave these storm damaged areas. Once an anticipated area of operation is established, CNR reaches out to the local officials in order to work with them as an extension of the incident command structure by being a force multiplier. CNR's volunteers will deploy to the area or operation when it is safe to do so. Cajun Navy Relief also provides immediate relief in the way of supplies, working with vetted organizations and points of distribution to ensure these supplies get into the areas in which they are most needed.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Cajun Navy Relief recruits volunteers who are experienced with requested assets. CNR holds a training event for new volunteers annually. Volunteers are also highly encouraged to take FEMA courses in the Incident Command System. Cajun Navy Relief uses technology specifically designed for Emergency Response. CNR also utilizes other software such as GPS tracking and apps for real-time two-way communication.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Cajun Navy Relief has responded to many different storms of various degrees in many different states since 2016. Cajun Navy Relief is continuously expanding operations to meet the needs of disasters including rescue response to flooding, immediate supply distribution, urban search and rescue, debris clearing, and more.
