ONE LIFE TO GIVE

We are committed to youth in rural Kenya that cannot afford school fees. Families in rural Kenya typically make $1-1.50 per day and a child's high school fees can be $250-600 per school year so many children don't get the opportunity to advance past the 8th grade. UNICEF reports that 51.6% of males are enrolled in secondary school and 48.4% of females are enrolled in secondary school, but only 39.5% of males and 41.6% of females are actually attending school. We know that these statistics are based on numbers throughout Kenya and not in the Western rural area where we work. We are working in area where there aren't any NGO helping the youth remain in school. This is an area where AIDS is leaving orphans or large families of children to be raised by a single-parent or even a grandparent. Education can help this area break the cycle of poverty and gives a child has the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
