Mission

The Institute for Hermetic Studies offers high quality, affordable information for the study and practice of Traditional Western Esotericism in an open and free environment where the application of esoteric principles may flourish. Classes, seminars, workshops, retreats, and conferences on Hermeticism and its allied subjects of alchemy, Qabala, Rosicrucianism, esoteric Freemasonry, ritual magic, meditation and general esotericism are the basis for the Institute’s activities. All instruction is clear, concise, and practical in nature. The Institute is not an initiatic body and maintains no initiatic orders, degrees, or secret societies.

Institute for Hermetic Studies Library and Research Center

The establishment of the Institute for Hermetic Studies Library and Research Center, a center that will serve generations to come. The establishment of local and regional facilities is essential to the continuity of various traditions, as well as in providing a place to meet people of similar philosophies that strengthen, encourage, and sustain our individual practices, and support growing academic research in this expanding field.

Since 2014 the Institute for Hermetic Studies has published over two dozen monographs and books on specialized topics in classical and modern esotericism. These have been funded primarily by IHS patrons using crow sourcing. Each of our online fundraising programs has met or exceeded it financial goal.

In addition, through the IHS YouTube Channel we have provided audio programs from our original seminars and programs. These same seminars are the basis for several of the IHS Study Guides Series books.

The IHS Annual Conference provides a venue where practitioners and academic researchers of various aspects of human consciousness can meet and exchange ideas. While the primary focus is Western esotericism the conference also actively invites neighboring movements and associations into the fold. These include, but are not limited to: media and the paranormal, psychic research, Eastern and Native practices and philosophies, art and culture, initiatic and open-source movements, religion and spirituality in history and contemporary society.

The Institute for Hermetic Studies provides a limited number of monographs and other publications free of charge to individuals in the US prison system.

The Institute for Hermetic Studies offers a unique selection of Continuing Education Courses and CEUs for healthcare, education, and mental health professionals. These focus primarily around the role and function of culture, religious beliefs, spiritual practices, and metaphysical views in the life and health of the individual and community. Specialized courses can be organized on request.
