Speech and Language therapy

We partner with organizations in Uganda working with children with disabilities to provide this much needed service. We have seen children make remarkable improvement. Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

1. Increase access to high quality, consistent rehabilitative therapy services (i.e. speech and language therapy, feeding therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy) in Uganda.
2. Provide mentorship and support for Ugandan SLT students and professionals to increase their clinical competence and evidence-based service provision.
3. Promote education, study and research in the field of disabilities and rehabilitative services in Uganda.
4. Increase access to social services, advocacy and education for families in our program, giving them the support required to care for their entire family unit, inclusive of their children with disabilities and those without.
5. Increase access to nutrition to reduce food insecurity and conditions related to malnutrition in children with disabilities.
6. Increase access to medical care at reputable establishments through funding and advocacy, with follow up and care from Hope Speaks staff to ensure effectiveness of treatment and ongoing medical support.
7. Collaborate with other individuals, organizations, and professional bodies involved in working with people with disabilities.

(i) Develop and implement projects to promote the wellbeing of individuals with disabilities in our communities, in consultation with community members and leaders.
(ii) Establish partnerships with agencies, organisations and educators with similar goals and objectives around the country who have direct contact with families and children in need of speech therapy.
(iii) Partner with relevant stakeholders (universities, training institutes, etc.) in the efforts to increase evidence-based training methods for service providers in the disability sector.
(iv) Strategically place outreach centres in lower-resourced communities to provide direct care to families with limited access to disability services.
(v) Provide paid therapy services to increase revenue that will both fill the service gap for resourced Ugandans whilst funding free clinics.
