aka Kindness360 Blog

La Porte, IN

Kindness360, Inc., is founded on the enduring principles of generosity and public good. We are committed, through our nonprofit subsidiaries, such as Saint Sebastian Homeless Outreach, to defending, educating, and empowering the ostracized and disenfranchised; through Ameriscribe Braille Services we are promoting the independence of people who are blind and visually-impaired by providing specialized braille products and services as we enlist humanity's help in improving their quality of life. We accomplish our charitable missions by bringing together volunteers, advocates, partners, and the generosity of donors.

What we aim to solve New!

Kindness360 is striving to deliver on its total kindness to humanity (without discrimination) mission. We are hard at work trying to fulfill God's commandment in Ephesians 4:32. to "[b]e kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Charting Impact

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?

How will they know if they are making progress?

What have and haven't they accomplished so far?

Kindness360's three Core General Objectives are:

1. To Inspire people to perform random, intentional acts of kindness for the ostracized, disenfranchised, or the poor.
2. To Educate the nation in real kindness to others, whether at home, at work or at school.
3. To Connect individuals & groups through social media, events and personal and professional networks.

We can accomplish our objectives by:

1. Providing braille literature and educational materials to our blind and visually-impaired neighbors.
2. Providing long-term shelter to our homeless military veterans, and others in need.
3. Providing public recognition for outstanding lives lived in selfless service to others.
4. Defending taboo or unorthodox human and civil rights from oppression by the masses.

Strategy 1: We are actively engaged in genuine acts of kindness through our nonprofit subsidiaries that help to fulfill our objectives while on earth.

Strategy 2: We are actively pursuing public help and generous donations of plots of land, houses, and other real property that is safe and reliable, from all caring and interested citizens.

Strategy 3: We are daily transcribing free braille materials for educators, businesses, and other agencies to help offset the cost of the braille equipment necessary for producing braille.

Strategy 4: We are advocating for the protection of all human and civil rights being unjustly oppressed.

Kindness360 has extremely limited capability for meeting our objectives. We are reliant upon the kindness of others for the materials, support, and funds needed to keep our mission moving forward.

Kindness360 uses statistics and surveys throughout each fiscal year to track our progress.

So far we have been able to partner with Google and Microsoft to get our web presence up and running. We have joined with Good360 to acquire used or donated electronic goods and other supplies needed to manage and sustain the organization. We are currently working on acquiring the braille equipment that is very much needed to produce the high volume of braille reading material demanded by schools across the nation.

Board Leadership Practices

GuideStar worked with BoardSource, the national leader in nonprofit board leadership and governance, to create this section, which enables organizations and donors to transparently share information about essential board leadership practices.

Does the board conduct a formal orientation for new board members and require all board members to sign a written agreement regarding their roles, responsibilities, and expectations?

Has the board conducted a formal, written assessment of the chief executive within the past year?

Have the board and senior staff reviewed the conflict-of-interest policy and completed and signed disclosure statements in the past year?

Does the board ensure an inclusive board member recruitment process that results in diversity of thought and leadership?

Organizational Demographics

In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
