What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

CARE of DC is currently looking for a building to open a shelter. Unfortunately at this time we don't have the necessary funds. We are a foster based rescue and we know if we had a shelter we could save so many more lives.

Wildlife rehabilation

CARE of DC has a licensed wildlife rehabber on their board. We assist in the care of injured and orphaned small mammals. We take in rabbits, possums, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. The babies are raised in controlled environments with as little human contact as possible and then prepared for eventual release back into the wild. Release of wildlife is done gradually over a period of weeks or months. We make sure the animals know how to survive on their own.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our main objective is to save and rehome as many dogs, cats and small animals as possible. We would love to be able to offer low cost spay neuter/services to everyone in our community in the future.

We are working with a few of our supporters and volunteers to organize several fundraisers.

We have been able to reach most of our goals by fundraising. In our first year we were in need of a van and a new trailer to transport the animals and set up our events. We were able to accomplish the purchase of both through our fundraising.

We have applied for several grants and are currently fundraising. With these funds we are hoping to open a shelter.
