Bite Size Vegan
veganism [simplified]
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
There is an ever-increasing amount of information available about veganism. However, assessing what's misinformation, disinformation, and finding solid, primary, reliable sources in all of the "noise" is overwhelming to say the least! In addition, for many individuals, the concept of veganism often carries a "charge", sparking defensiveness and resistance. This is perpetuated and exacerbated by a multitude of incomplete, conflicting, confusing or just plain nonfactual information. Even those interested in making a change are often left overwhelmed with where to start.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Bite Size Vegan
Bite Size Vegan is an ever-expanding, open-access educational resource of information on all aspects of veganism. Provided as a free public service by Emily Moran Barwick, who purposefully utilizes mediums and approaches tailored to modern methods of information consumption, including: digital media (namely educational videos with accompanying cited articles and additional resources on BiteSizeVegan.org), social media-based content, and live speeches tailored to each audience’s cultural, social, and additional informing considerations and circumstances.
There is a lot of information, misinformation, and disinformation on veganism out there! Bite Size Vegan makes it simple, accessible, and approachable.
From thoroughly researched academic reports, to engaging videos for kids, to moving mini-documentary style videos, Bite Size Vegan provides a wide range of educational approaches for various learning styles, and emphasizes the diversity of veganism—because it’s not about changing who you are, just what you do in relation to non-human animals.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Bite Size Vegan was founded on the belief that everyone deserves access to solid, factual information on issues impacting their health, our planet, society, and the lives of other sentient beings. The website, videos, resources and speeches serve to provide this access in formats tailored to modern methods of information consumption—digestible and approachable, yet backed by rigorous research.
Bite Size Vegan aims to serve as an "entry point" for non-vegans to explore veganism in an approachable, non-threatening environment—distilling down complex concepts into accessible formats while providing cited sources for total transparency and to allow further independent research and evaluation.
Simultaneously, Bite Size Vegan aims to serve as a source of teaching tools for current vegans and activists, providing them with reliable "go to" resources to use in their own activism, allowing them to focus more time on outreach.
By taking on the ample time requirements of researching the myriad of issues inherent within and surrounding veganism, as well as sorting through the ever-growing mountains of information, Bite Size Vegan aims to increase both the accessibility of veganism for non-vegans, and the efficiency and effectiveness of current vegans' activism.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Everything Bite Size Vegan provides is completely free. All of the videos, articles, and downloads are open to all, and speeches are delivered free of charge.
Bite Size Vegan content is purposefully tailored to modern methods of information consumption to increase access to right-to-know information that is otherwise buried under mountains of information, disinformation and misinformation, hidden behind paywalls, or requiring more time and/or research experience than many individuals have or can afford.
Founded upon the belief that everyone has a right to know the truth, Bite Size Vegan removes many of the existing barriers to reliable information, allowing the public to evaluate for themselves issues which directly impact their health, our planet, society, and the lives of all sentient beings.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Bite Size Vegan's founder, Emily Moran Barwick has a keen ability to "translate" complex issues into accessible videos, speeches and articles that have already reached people around the world, spurring change and action (as relayed through testimonials over the years). Emily takes great care to consider Bite Size Vegan's mission, vision and values as well as the intended audience for every video, article or speech. There is no shortage of topics to cover, nor a need for accessible information on veganism. Bite Size Vegan's model and approach serve to meet this need within the formats of modern information consumption, bridging the gap between the "everyday" and "academia".
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
As of 2019, Bite Size Vegan content has reached people in at least 224 Countries or Regions, been translated into at least 60 languages, and been used in classrooms in multiple US states as well as internationally. As of May 23, 2020, individuals around world have cumulatively spent 149 years, 29 days watching the Bite Size Vegan videos on YouTube.
Moving forwards, Bite Size Vegan aims to increase the reach of the existing content, produce new content, and develop new formats and resources to further increase accessibility across various learning styles and backgrounds, with the goal of developing into an even more comprehensive, dynamic "encyclopedia" of veganism.
