The goals of Arlington Chess Club are to promote and support the chess-playing community, provide opportunities for adults and children to play and learn chess, provide chess instruction to adults and children, assist schools and other groups in the development of chess clubs and events, and to help adults and children with a financial need gain entry in chess competitions.

Arlington Chess Club coordinates chess instruction and clubs at three public libraries in Arlington and Mansfield, Texas, sponsors weekly public chess events for adults, sponsors a monthly rated chess tournament for adults and kids, helps schools organize scholastic chess tournaments, assists public schools develop chess programs through consultation and acquisition of chess equipment, and we provide Chess Merit Badge counseling for the Boy Scouts of America.

Many experienced club-level chess players donate their time to volunteer in the libraries and helping schools. We coordinate agreements with venues for chess events. We maintain membership in the U.S. Chess Federation and several members of our club are certified chess tournament directors. We have experienced chess players including experts and masters.

Regular meetings have increased from twice per month to once per week.
We have grown from one chess program in public library to three programs in three libraries.
We have coordinated donations of chess equipment to three public schools.
We've assisted two financially-needy chess players with USCF memberships and tournament entry fees.
We've assisted seven Boy Scouts attain the Chess Merit Badge.
We've been recognized by the US Chess Federation for increasing membership in the US Chess Federation.
Attendance at our regular meetings average twice what they did at the beginning of 2017.
