Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Parental rights are under attack across the country. Well funded organizations are spending millions of dollars creating policies that disenfranchise parents from their children and developing curriculum that is often extreme and ideological. When children enter the school house doors, the school does not become the parent. Yet, many overreaching policies aim to do just that. Many Parents are not even aware that their rights are being challenged in the public square. Power2Parent exists to inform, organize, and mobilize parents for the fundamental protection of parental rights.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Community Legislative Mobilization
Power2Parent mobilizes community members to meetings that are hearing policies that challenge parental rights. We train our members on how to testify, develop written testimony, and generally advocate for their parental rights.
Cottage Meetings
Power2Parent has used cottage meetings (small invite only meetings) to gather parents in likeminded groups to train and inform them on the issues that affect their parental rights and how combat these issues.
School Choice Fair
Parents desire choice in where to send their children to school. Our School Choice Fair brings all of the most relevant choices together in one spot in order for parents to gather info, awareness, and make informed decisions on their child's education.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Power2Parent aims to inform parents that their rights are under attack and mobile them to defend this fundamental right. We watchdog elected officials and school districts in order to stay abreast of polls that intend disenfranchise parents. The family is the cornerstone of society, it is under attack, and we will continue be alert and active to defend and strengthen it.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We inform and educate parents about their rights and policies that aim to dismantle those rights, effectively empowering them to engage the process. We mobilize groups of parents and community members to call their elected officials, show up to public meetings and hearings, and train to develop written and verbal testimony. We host school choice events that inform parents and families about their choices. We also turn out a monthly newsletter encouraging parental engagement.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Power2Parent has developed an effective research team that stays up to date on relevant parental rights information. We watch bills and polices that affect parental rights. We have developed coalitions with other organizations to strengthen our organizations information and membership. We foster relationships within the community and with legislators in order to work together to develop policies that protect parents rights. We have a diverse board that represents our community and we make efforts to reach out and support parents in Nevada from all walks life. Power2Parent has effectively fought off changes to sex education curriculum, including protecting the right for parents to opt-in to sex education.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Power2Parent began with one parent who sat in a meeting about sex education and heard the radical indoctrination that was being proposed to be taught to children as young as Kindergarten. This led to a group of parents banding together and going up against the 5th largest school district in the nation. After the public outcry, the district removed the SEICUS documents under consideration and apologized to parents. This group of parents formed an grassroots organization, Power2PARENT. We began holding small cottage meetings, informing parents of the policies and large national organizations that aimed to disenfranchising them. After we defeated sex ed, we mobilized parents to effectively maintain opt-in for sex education in Clark County. In 2017 we came up against comprehensive sex ed on a statewide level. We successfully lobbied Governor Sandoval to veto a comprehensive sex ed bill, on the basis of parental rights.
