ElkhartCares exists to ease people’s hardships and bring a bit of unexpected joy into their lives. We believe in supporting the citizens and establishments in our community that need a helping hand, with our neighbors-helping-neighbors approach. Today, our offerings of assistance and opportunity are given with the vision of building a community where the power of goodwill keeps on giving.

Warm Hearts

Goal: To encourage, empower, and strengthen our community through the companionship of animals.
Description: Offers support to families that want a pet, or want to keep their pet, but have difficulties affording food. Sponsors therapy dogs, as well as equine therapy programs.

Goal: To share the power of words and the joy of reading.
Description: Encourages literacy for all members of our community by developing summer reading and educational programs. Provides reading support, as well as access to good books. Creates expanded awareness--and thus the opportunity for each member of the community to become more fully-realized, contributing citizens--through encouraging literacy. Acts as a supportive ally to local library programs, and creatively incentivizes learning.

Goal: To help people find their voice and achieve their potential.
Description: Aids in creating scholarships for local students, as well as for the special needs community. Connects successful, accomplished members of the community with young, hungry, resourceful minds that show potential, but have limited opportunity. Provides access to the arts for students and their families, in order to support arts education and to creatively discover ways to enrich our community.

Goal: To provide opportunities for housing, education, transportation, medical assistance, food, and family activities for those in need--including the veterans of our community, who have served us well and now deserve to be supported while they rebuild their lives and care for themselves and their families.
Description: Emphasizes education, vocation, and life-skills for individuals looking to cement their ability to care for themselves and their families. Provides temporary and permanent housing, transportation, food assistance, and medical assistance (both physical and psychological) for those in need. Creates opportunities for “Family Time” by providing families with things like tickets for the family to go to a baseball game or family admission to a local children’s museum, so that families feel more united.

ElkhartCares is a community-based nonprofit organization that exists to ease people’s hardships and bring a bit of unexpected joy into their lives. We believe in supporting the citizens and establishments in our community that need a helping hand, with our neighbors-helping-neighbors approach. Serving the greater Elkhart Lake, WI community, ElkhartCares focuses on providing assistance to individuals, families, and organizations that are striving to achieve happier and healthier lives, and to reach their full potential.

ElkhartCares offers such programs and assistances in the areas of:
1. School lunch meals and summer reading programs
2. Internet services for school-aged children for their school work
3. Working with the Elkhart Lake - Glenbeulah School District, offering assistance in earning college credit courses, financial assistance for uniforms and equipment in order for students to participate in athletics, band equipment, and grants for teachers that help support learning and engagement in the classroom and beyond

Family assistance programs such as:
1. Fuel assistance for parents commuting to and from work, and taking their children to and from school
2. Child care assistance for working families and single parents
3. Food support and holiday meals
4. Pet supplies
5. Medical financial support
6. Appropriate clothing for winter
