What we aim to solve
Genesis works to address the need for affordable and accessible health services, including medical, dental, and mental health care, for low-income and uninsured individuals.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Free Medical, Dental, Mental Health Services as well as social and spiritual support
-The Garden City Community Clinic (GCCC) provides medical services to lower income, uninsured patients by utilizing volunteer health care professionals. Care includes treatment of acute non-emergent and limited chronic illnesses, medications, and referrals for specialty care. On-site basic dental services and social work consults are also offered, as well as limited mental health counseling. Volunteers apply for free medications from drug manufacturers on behalf of patients. About 500 patients a year are served.
-Volunteer Physicians Network (VPN)started in 2006 as a referral network of specialty physicians, labs and hospitals who?ve agreed to donate medical care to patients of three Ada County safety-net clinics: Family Practice Medical Center, Terry Reilly Health Services-Boise, and GCCC. They provide primary health care and depend on specialty consultations, procedures, and/or surgery to provide a continuity of care for eligible patients.
-Genesis works with indigenous people in developing countries to implement and manage sustainable health care. Our first major project of this sort is a primary health care clinic in Kenya, to which we provide ongoing consultation and funding.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Genesis goal is to improve the health and well-being of low-income and uninsured individuals by providing free medical, dental, and mental health services. Genesis also supports its patients and their families by helping them obtain other critical resources, such as food, shelter, and transportation. In FY 2018, Genesis' goal is to provide 4,200 health service encounters to 1,000 people.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Genesis will reach its goal of providing 4,200 health service encounters to 1,000 people by maximizing the impact of each of its programs. The following are the goals of each program: genesis community clinic (medical, dental, and mental health - 3,340 encounters) and community health workers (860 encounters).
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Genesis' ability to accomplish its goals is made possible through diversified streams of revenue and generous in-kind support. Genesis's major revenue sources include: grants from foundations, state and local government grants, and donations from individuals, churches, and businesses. Genesis does not receive any federal funding. The major sources of Genesis' in-kind support include: 200 active volunteers (physicians, dentists, nurses, etc.); Saint Alphonsus Medical Center and St. Luke's Health System who donate imaging and lab services, as well as specialty provider consults and surgical services; Intermountain Medical Imaging which donates x-ray and diagnostic radiology services; Ladd Pharmacy which donates medications at contract pricing, and; the Central District Health Department which provides diabetes management and education.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In FY 2017, Genesis provided 3,500 health service encounters to 900 people; these numbers reflect a more than 25% increase over the previous year! In FY 2018, Genesis' goal is increase by an additional 10% by providing 4,200 encounters to 1,000 people.
