Tree Giveaway

Trees Lexington! holds tree giveaways for citizens of Lexington, Kentucky in both the Spring and Fall seasons. We source our native trees from nurseries with excellent stock and as near to us geographically as possible. We give away trees in 1-gallon or 3-gallon sized containers, with 3-gallon being more popular due to the increased size of the sapling. In the Spring of 2022, our giveaway was a huge success with 210 trees finding homes in under one hour. For our Fall 2022 giveaway, we plan to double the amount of trees available to our community. We have our ISA-Certified Arborists on site to answer questions related to tree species and planting site selection, and to provide in person planting advice. We also provide resources for planting on our website and make those further accessible with the use of QR codes and paper copies for those who may prefer that option.

Data
  • We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
