What we aim to solve
For a variety of reasons, there are many dachshunds and small dog mixes who find themselves in need of a new home. Sometimes they require extensive medical care in the process. We house them in foster homes all over the state of Florida, provide vaccines, spay and neuter, full vetting with any medications, microchips, and even surgeries when required. Then we find the very best forever home possible for each dog.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Rescue Partnership Agreements
We maintain a Rescue Partnership Agreement with all four counties represented by this foundation: Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and Desoto Counties. This is to say that Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida, Inc. has been approved by these counties to pull rescue-eligible dogs from the animal shelters and provide the care needed (including spay and neuter procedures) to make these dogs adoptable. We are also responsible for reviewing adoption applications to ensure that responsible/appropriate homes are found which, in turn, decreases the chances that dog will re-enter the animal control system. We have a team of all volunteers, no paid staff. Our Program Budget consists of expenses related to caring and fundraising for foster dogs; marketing them to potential adopters; and educating others as to what rescue is and what part they can play.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

Goals to support our mission (aka our first goal) include:
1. Growing our volunteer program
2. Continuing to grow our reach online and around the state
3. Educating the public on the proper care for dachshunds and dogs
