Mission

To inspire local women and girls to be catalysts to improve their lives and the lives of others. Meaning, we inspire LOCAL women and girls to BELIEVE that progress toward a more just society is possible and to be catalysts for GOOD in their lives and communities. They don’t have to wait for SOMEONE to do something. THEY can and should TAKE ACTION to initiate progress. All they have to get started is ENGAGE. Simply by ENGAGING and TAKING ACTION with other women and girls they have the power to support and strengthen one another, their families, communities and society. ALL will be happier, healthier and stronger for it.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

EXPOW's goal is to to end the age of apathy and inaction driving so many of societies challenges today. Unlike many social services organizations that aim to tackle one single societal problem, we look at all of the gaps in local social services and connect organizations and engage women in our communities to solve these problems. Exponential Power of Women [EXPOW] strives to inspire local women & girls to be catalysts to improve their lives and the lives of others locally and beyond. Meaning, we inspire LOCAL women and girls to BELIEVE that progress is possible and to be catalysts for GOOD in their lives and communities, realizing they don’t have to wait for SOMEONE to do SOMETHING - they can initiate progress simply by TAKING ACTION to engage other women and girls in their community to understand and address local problems TOGETHER. They, their families and communities will ALL be happier, healthier and stronger for it.

EXPOW'S 100 WOMEN OF ALLEN

WOMEN IN THE ALLEN, TX, COMMUNITY COME TOGETHER TO LEAR ABOUT AND SUPPORT LOCAL NONPROFITS. THIS PROVIDES A PLATFORM FOR PHILANTHROPIC WOMEN TO UNITE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR COMMUNITY.

Population(s) Served
Women and girls

EXPOW steps in to help when other local services end or do not exist.  For example, when a local father of four was recently paralyzed in a hit-and-run accident and evicted as he lay in the hospital, EXPOW stepped in and assisted his wife and family with the move, collecting immediate needs, and we continue to be a support system for this family.

Population(s) Served
Adults

EXPOW has several ongoing opportunities for the community to get involved, and we also strive to provide opportunities for children to give back whenever possible.
Once a month, EXPOW participates in Tango Tab's Feed the Hungry event where all participants donate food and make sandwiches for local shelters.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

EXPOW'S goals are to research and recognize the gaps and needs on a local level, and make the connections needed to solve these issues.
We do this by increasing the overall philanthropic pie. We increase awareness, volunteerism, and increase donations.

EXPOW harnesses the power and passion of women and girls to drive exponential impact and create common good. EXPOW is the only local fully female-led charity that bridges ALL women and girls from elementary age to senior citizens, crossing cultural, religious, and socioeconomic lines to support one another in our journeys to learn, grow, and connect to create a better life, community and world.

We do this by raising public awareness of issues, providing volunteer opportunities, supporting each other on our own person path.

“Women are the future” is no longer just a cute cliché to put on t-shirts. Women are half the population, have big hearts, are raising the entire world - literally and according to numerous sources are the key to a better future for all of us - men, women and children.

Women control more than half of private wealth in the U.S.*
Women will inherit 70 percent of the $41 trillion in intergenerational wealth that is expected to change hands over the next 40 years.*
Women have been sited as the future of technology (Forbes), innovative finance (Rockefeller Foundation), social, sustainable and impact investing (Triple Pundit), and the list goes on…

We believe with our connections, passion, focus, and the support of the women in the community we will be able to unite for good and make communities a better place for all people.

In our first week in existence, EXPOW delivered over 57,000 items organized by sixty-nine volunteers for Hurricane Harvey evacuees . EXPOW made the opportunity local and doable!, EXPOW has continued to find unfilled needs and powerfully and positively impact the community.
Some examples of EXPOW’S accomplishments in their first year includes:
• Initiated and launched the Allen Diversity Council
• Collected 84 coats for local children in need
• Distributed Toys for Tots when another local charity was not able to do so
• Provided last minute volunteers for Princess Project
• Inspired over 500 Allen High School students to write letters of support to the students returning to their Parkland Florida high school
• Helped a father of four and sole breadwinner for the family, who was recently paralyzed from a hit-and-run accident
• Initiated the 100 Women of Allen
• Helped a local title-one school with mother and girl focused programs
