What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Winter Clothes Collection

Every year, our Ambassadors throughout middle school and high school collect winter clothing at their respective schools. Throughout our first four years (Winter 2016, Winter 2017, Winter 2018, Winter 2019) we collected over 400 lbs of winter clothing to help over 400 economically challenged families in the Bronx. This is our core program.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our organization aims to diminish the negative impact cold weather has on those who are unable to afford proper clothing to protect them from the elements. Homelessness affects tens of thousands of families in New York City, and we are trying to alleviate the problems associated with it.

We plan on utilizing the giving power of our South Florida community to collect funds and winter clothing to send to the Northeast. We have partnered with many local businesses and schools to accomplish this goal.

We already have many connections in our South Florida community to continue our positive impact. Many schools have collection drives associated with our organization to facilitate clothes donations. We also hold an annual fundraising event that covers our shipping and management costs.

Across the first four winters in operation, we have donated over 400 pounds of winter clothing to over 400 families. We plan on beating last year’s number every single year. That is our goal.

Data

  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.

  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
