What we aim to solve
Jai Bhakti Yoga Foundation works to bring yoga and wellness services to our underserved, disadvantaged, low income, and minority communities. We have found that our elderly, disabled, veteran and minority communities have limited or no access to yoga and wellness services due to cost, convenience, and availability. We exist to provide these services either free or donation based to promote a better quality of life, empowerment, and confidence in their daily routines. Our focus is to support treatment solutions through yoga, meditation, and wellness practices that will improve PTS/PTSD, Depression, Suicidal tendencies, addiction recovery, trauma, and various physical, mental, and emotional disabilities while reducing the use of pharmaceutical treatments by encouraging a holistic approach to enrich and restore their lives.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Gentle Yoga
A gentle flow yoga class concentrating on gentle physical movements and connecting to breath to calm the mind, body, and spirit. This class uses gentle guided meditation as the students journey through the practice. This class is intended to alleviate stress, tension, and anxiety while slowing the body down.
Chair Yoga
A gentle yoga class performed in Chairs or standing with the assistance of the chair for balance and memory retention. We combine breathwork, guided mediation, and gentle movements to circulate the bodies blood flow and digestive system.
Community Yoga
A beginner to moderate flow class open to students in underfunded communities that are in need of a support group and safe space to concentrate on fitness and wellness.
Yoga for Veterans
A variety of yoga classes open to all veterans, active servicemembers, their families, and caregivers. Certain classes are more gentle for those whose bodies need more care, we offer a level 1/2 class for able bodied students, and we offer a chair yoga class.
Aqua Yoga
A refreshing practice to build strength and increase balance without the body straining for those with limitations or that are expecting. This style of yoga offers a meditative and calming sensation for the body and mind.
Ayurveda Yoga Teacher Training
The goal of the yoga teacher training is to support you on your journey to share your passion for yoga and to start your successful yoga business. We will work together to develop your teaching skills, confidence, and wellness business.
We created a yoga and Ayurvedic Health Educational Curriculum for minority women affected by domestic violence in the heart of the city’s most violent crimes. Ayurveda supports the wholeness of the individual from morning to evening by addressing behavior, diet, routine, lifestyle, exercise, and taming stress of the mind through meditation and mindfulness training.
Ayurvedic Health Consulting Services
utilize the fundamental principles of Ayurveda to re-establish balance, treat, eliminate, and prevent disorder and disease by providing an Ayurvedic consultation assessment based on various aspects of your current and past physical examination, diet and nutrition, pulse diagnosis (if able), individual body constitution, mindset, intentions, lifestyle, routines, and state of being. I work with your medical practitioner's recommendations and support enhancing what will benefit you as an individual.
Together, we form a consciousness-based and holistic Ayurvedic well-being program to empower you to show up and take responsibility for your health and live your best life.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Jai Baikti Yoga Foundation seeks to support a comprehensive wellness initiative across impoverished districts of New Orleans, LA specifically targeting the 9th Ward with the highest gun violence- where half the city’s homicides and non-fatal shootings are reported (2021). JBYF has supported the BIPOC Community (Black Indigenous People of Color) since 2017, where many participants devastated by gun violence have found peace through lifestyle changes such as yoga and nutritional training.
The VIBRANT (Victims Initiative Becoming Resilient and Navigating Trauma) Initiative will create a yoga and Ayurvedic Health Educational Curriculum for minority women affected by domestic violence in the heart of the city’s most violent crimes. Ayurveda supports the wholeness of the individual from morning to evening by addressing behavior, diet, routine, lifestyle, exercise, and taming stress of the mind through meditation and mindfulness training.
Part of the wellness and health benefits of yoga and eating well are psycho-sociological, such as reduced stress, gaining strength, flexibility, and balance to be agents of change for themselves as well as for the community. Women will aid themselves from victims to leading members of the community through health and wellness. This may be a nomination program where shelter employees nominate women, they think will benefit from being in VIBRANT.
The framework is that shelters would nominate 10 women they think will benefit from being in the program and being change agents for their community. (Partnership of Shelters in different wards that are participating).
This is a RESILIENCE INITIATIVE that will help women transition out of their shelters and transition back into their communities thus leading to an impact in improving individual and familial behaviors. The grant will directly benefit women in shelters residing in the 9th Ward of New Orleans where half of all homicides and non-fatal shootings and gun violence occur (2021). The initiative requires women to stay in VIBRANT New Orleans (Victims Initiative Becoming Resilient And Navigating Trauma) for five months so that JBYF can document individual changes in wellness among the participants. There will be two cohorts of five months for a total of twenty yoga sessions, three Ayurvedic Consultations (beginning, middle, and end), and two larger community-building health and wellness events to include the participation of the two different shelters and invited shelters, co-creating to learn the wholeness of healing in a supportive community setting.
Women will learn group facilitation skills in harmony with wellness- learning to be agents of change in shelters and local communities. As the five months progress, women will have an increase in independence-oriented activities and small group work and presentations, so they gain the confidence to be leaders both in shelters and in the city of New Orleans.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our below strategies are still in the infant stages of development, however, we are well on our way to co-create more opportunity in partnership with other like-minded organizations to come along and support where they are able.
* 3% of all JBYLLC income goes to JBYF
* Participate in local fundraising events such as Give Nola Day, Giving Tuesday
* Participate in local festivals with a booth to raise funds and awareness
* Reach out to individual donors for sponsorship
* Host Day of Yoga festival, only yoga fest in New Orleans.
* Yoga retreats as a fundraiser.
* Reach out to Corporate Sponsorship
* Grants - when applicable
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Over the last year we have created a highly regarded repor with the New Orleans community of yoga, wellness, spiritual, and bodyworkers. All of whom are experts in a variety of fields that will lend support to our growth and value as an organization at ALL our fundraising events.
We are regarded as a leader in our community and a hub to find resources for various yoga and wellness modalities. Through the help of volunteers and the transition to a new and more active Board of Directors, we are on the path of substantial growth into this year.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
