What we aim to solve

We are trying to help alleviate the problem people find in trying to locate and navigate available mental health resources. We help those that have insurance and those that have no financial means. We are also trying to help lessen the feeling of being all alone during a mental health struggle. We give and encourage others to give a mosaic heart to someone that feels this way. We say that mental illness is not "a casserole illness" but it should be, as our brain is a physical part of our bodies. We encourage people to book a mosaic session and be in community with others. We are educating the community on mental health, all along the spectrum from grief to serious mental illnesses, like bipolar and addiction. We hope to help erase the stigma associated with mental health struggles.

Our vision is a united community mobilized to make a difference in the life of another through a renewed mindset about mental well-being. We EDUCATE individuals and community by sharing relevant personal, biblical, and professional mental health and addiction insight. WE NAVIGATE the array of mental health resources for those in search of direction by listening, simplifying, and narrowing available options. WE CULTIVATE an environment where struggles are welcomed, brokenness is shared, and the journey is celebrated. Tangibly this is done by creating, giving, or receiving a mosaic heart to show Beauty in Brokenness.

EDUCATE - We do this in large events, during our mosaic sessions, one on one in phone calls, through podcasts, and social media. NAVIGATE - We do this through continuous vetting of resource providers in our area and throughout the country when it comes to treatment centers, through phone calls with clients, with education sheets on how to ask questions of your resource providers, through podcasts explaining the types of resource providers and how to navigate them. CULTIVATE - through in house support groups (Hope for Hurting Moms, Grandmothers Raising Grandchildren), volunteer mosaic makers, Beauty in Brokenness program, prayer

We were founded by 5 women that are in long term recovery, have had personal mental health struggles, or have supported a family member through addiction recovery or mental health struggle. We have walked the walk. Our Executive Director is a registered psychiatric nurse. Our Director of Artistic Expression developed the 10 step mosaic heart program after years of mosaic making and a deep spiritual journey. Our Director of Operations has her BBA and has volunteered extensively in the community, is raising her grandchild, is active in addiction support groups for the family, and has a passion for disarming the stigma that surrounds mental illness and addiction. Our CFO is a CPA.

We use Donor Perfect to record our key performance indicators. To note a few, we track during time periods: Number of Resource Providers vetted Number of attendees in Beauty in Brokenness sessions Number of Beauty in Brokenness sessions Number of Hearts Given Number of Hearts Made by volunteers Number of Client Calls Number of Support Group participants Number of Podcasts Number of Social Media Followers / Posts Number of Lunch & Learns Held Number of Education events we speak at Number of Events we attend with booth

Mosaics of Mercy has given out over 800 hearts since its inception to help someone struggling not feel as alone in the journey. How many lives that has changed is not measurable, but we know we are impacting their lives in low moments. We have family testimonies. We have held two support groups bi-monthly / monthly over the last year with over 40 participants total, most attend every month. We are working toward establishing a database to offer our community on resources that are in our community. We have a web site that has a calendar to book mosaic sessions, to request assistance and/or prayer, and that offers vetted resource links, including books that are available for many situations. We have over 1100 social media followers and we post at least 4 times a week to educate and offer hope to the community. We just recorded our first podcast in Summer 2019 with plans for many more as another form of education to further our reach. We are actively engaged with judges, school districts, mental health professionals, local business leaders, clergy, the chamber of commerce, other non-profits...all trying to collaborate to help the mental health and addiction crises facing our community and the country.
