Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Kaden's Cause
Kaden's Cause is a 501c3 non-profit organization established to bring awareness to SUDC, support families affected by the tragedy of losing a young child, and spread kindness throughout our community in honor of Kaden. SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood). Sadly, many families deal with the pain of losing a child. No matter the reason or cause, a child's death leads to one consistent outcome for the families involved; unimaginable grief. Kaden's Cause in collaboration with a network of Funeral Homes, Hospitals, Cemeteries, and other Nonprofits provide funding to cover expenses associated with the internment of these dearly loved children.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Kaden's Cause is a 501c3 non-profit organization established to bring awareness to Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), support families affected by the tragedy of losing a young child and spread kindness throughout Central Kentucky and surrounding areas in honor of Kaden Layne Harris.
Our primary support is in providing funding to cover funeral, cemetery and monument costs for families who are unable to meet these expenses regardless of the cause of death their child. We also offer books and printed materials on grief and child loss to family and friends of the deceased.
We are dealing with a condition that understated, most families and individuals do not discuss openly their loss so that the number of silent suffers is not truly known.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
All of the following companies and organizations are in partnership with Kadens Cause, we work in collaboration to best serve our community. To ensure that no family in need is missed and that we are able to provide them with the highest consistent care at the most reasonable rate. We are committed to preserving the dignity and privacy of all individuals that require our assistance. We believe that it is both an honor and a privilege to serve in this capacity.

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have successfully met every request for assistance since our program's beginning in 2017. As we continue to cultivate our community partnerships and with the addition of new funding from foundations, organizations and corporations we are expanding our efforts both within Kentucky and throughout the United States.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The number of families served is in direct proportion to the amount of funds we have available, we also have the ability to provide only partial funding.
We strive to help three to five families for each $5,000.00 increment that we receive. As we gain social capital many of the fixed costs can decrease as we collectively find ways to better stewards of the resources that have been allocated.
This year we will host an Eventbrite fundraiser at Country Boy Brewing in Georgetown Kentucky on April 17th from 5:30-8:30pm, Our annual Ice Cream Social on July 10th, Annual Golf Scramble on September 23, and Giving Tuesday on December 3, 2024 in order to raise awareness and funding to continue to serve our mission. Estimated number of people reached total is between 600 and 800.
We will also produce an educational online video that targets social media and our website communicating the impact that Kaden's Cause has in our community. Tell why we do what we do!
Average number of people reached by social media posts based on past audience numbers 265 with a high of 592. Video = 4.8k
Every year Kaden's Cause performs random acts of kindness throughout our communities to promote kindness to all in honor of Kaden. Gestures need not cost money or take much time. Just do what feels good to share good. We at Kaden's Cause along with board of directors and community partners are dedicated to spreading at least 500 acts of kindness this year alone. In the past we have purchased coffee/food for the individual behind us in drive-throughs, paid for additional gas for people at gas stations, passed out more than 20 gallons of free ice cream during Kaden's Ice Cream Social, delivering donuts to fire and police stations, hospitals and local businesses as well as government agencies, visiting the nursing homes in our area, bring flowers, hosting talent shows, and making crafts with them and for them. supporting other nonprofits in our community with food, clothing, bedding, toys, handcrafted items and financially. We also participate in other nonprofit fundraisers such as Maggie's Walk to Remember, the Finley 5K, Christmas drive with the Gathering place and home goods and supplies to both Amen House and Elizabeth's Village.

Equity strategies

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
