Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The people of Hawai'i are dependent on food getting shipped in to support them. Through our gardening models, we hope to reduce that burden on shipping so the people can be more food independent.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Animal Care
Caring for animals rescued by the 2018 Kīlauea eruption and the closure of Big Island Dairy.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Fellowship for Perpetual Growth aims to raise awareness about animal care, and to teach Hawaiian residents on how to grow their own food. Our goal is to teach people how to turn their lava rock yard into arable land in as little as one year. We are working with other rescue organizations to help raise awareness of animal care and the necessity of spay/neuter for dogs and cats.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Fellowship for Perpetual Growth is making lactobacillus acidophilus (LAB), a bacteria found in yoghurt, cole slaw, and fermented foods. Applying LAB at a rate of 4ml per gallon of water per 1/5 of an acre of lava rock will help break that rock down into soil.
We are posting to social media about the benefits of animal care, how to spot medical issues in animals and resolve them, and the benefits of spay/neuter so that the residents are familiar with the terms and practices of animal care and will be more accepting of these procedures.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have equipment to make and jar the lactobacillus acidophilus (LAB). We were selling the LAB at farmers' markets, but are now selling them individually to local residents.
We have still and video cameras for taking photos/video of the animals. With our Internet connection, we upload the media to social media platforms.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are looking to expand awareness of the benefits of lactobacillus acidophilus, and increase production and sales accordingly.
We are looking to broaden our social media platforms to produce more consistent messages to broader audiences.
