What we aim to solve
We aim to address bullying from the view of those being bullied, those who bully, and those who just stand by. We also aim to bring awareness to the increase in young childhood suicide and work to prevent it.
Bullying and childhood suicide have reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. and worldwide. Yearly, 3.2 children are victims of bullying.
Every day, more than 160,000 school-age children stay home from school because of bullying, leading to over 5.2 million lost school days each year. 1 in 10 students will drop out of school because of bullying. A child is bullied on a school playground every 7 minutes. 54% of peers will just watch, 21% will join the bully and only 25%
will step in to help. 60% of boys who bully in elementary school will have a criminal record by age 24. Children who are bullied are 4.8x more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety, and 18.5x more likely to take their own life.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
NICEkids™
You've seen NICEkids™ all around you. They are the ones that open a door for someone, welcome the "new" kid with open arms, pick up a piece of trash on the ground, and many other nice acts, without thinking about it. At Bring Back Nice, we believe NICEkids™ are:
Inspired
Motivated
Generous
Honest
Grateful
Brave
Patient
Creative
Encouragers
Dreamers
Collaborators
World Changers
Become a NICEkidTM
NICEkidsTM THINK nice thoughts, SAY nice words, and DO nice things. We're going to change the world, one NICEkidTM at a time.
NICEkid™ Ambassador
NICEkid™ Ambassadors will organize small community service projects in their community, engaging others that have taken the NICEkid™ pledge. Ambassadors will also receive Bring Back Nice rubber bracelets to hand out. All NICEkid™ Ambassadors will receive a Bring Back Nice t-shirt.
Books & Buddies
There are many activities NICEkids™ can host, but our signature service project is Books & Buddies. Watching the news during the 2017 hurricanes that devastated Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, Izzi was taken by the images of children being carried by adults, most empty handed. She asked her mom if they got to take their favorite stuffed animal with them. When her mom explained that most of their belongings were destroyed in the storm, Izzi began collecting books and stuffed animals in her classroom. Izzi felt very strongly that every child should have a book to be read at bedtime, and a "snuggle buddy" to sleep with.
If you choose to host a Books & Buddies drive, Bring Back Nice will help you identify a family, or group of families in need due to a local disaster in your own community. Whether a big storm like a hurricane, a fire, flood, or other major event that causes a family the loss of their home, you can help Bring Back Nice to a family in need.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Bring Back Nice is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that provides bully prevention programs, educates children about differences in peers and bring awareness to the childhood suicide
epidemic. Our vision is to improve the quality of life for children
being bullied, so that no young child or teen wants to take their own life. We want children who are being bullied to be brave and strong, bullies to understand differences in peers and learn tolerance, and for bystanders to become upstanders. We also want to shed a light on the rise of suicide in young children, largely due to the effects of being bullied.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We will employ 5 key programs to help achieve our goal: Speaking Engagements, 66 Days To Nice Journal, NICEkids™, NICEkid™ Ambassadors, and Books & Buddies.
Currently, Izzi is available to speak at schools or community groups. She will tell her story, answer questions, educate the audience in understanding differences in peers, encourage children who are sad or feel isolated to seek out help, and empower audience members to Bring Back Nice.
Age appropriate peer-building activities and discussion questions will be left with the organizing host to continue the anti-bullying discussion. To learn more about speaking engagements, contact us.
"66 Days To Nice," a living journal that guides you to live a "nice" life.
Research shows that it takes on average, 66 days to form a new habit. Our journal guides kids through those 66 days, based on the character traits of our NICEkids™, and is broken into community groups (yourself, friends & family, school, your community, the earth). By the end of the 66 days, our goal is that children will engage in daily life in a more thoughtful and mindful manner.

NICEkid™ Ambassadors: We are signing up kids around the country to not only take the NICEkid™ pledge, but to become Ambassadors of Nice. NICEkid™ Ambassadors will organize small service projects in their community, engaging others that have taken the NICEkid™ pledge. Ambassadors will also receive Bring Back Nice rubber bracelets to hand out. All NICEkid™ Ambassadors will receive a Bring Back Nice t-shirt.

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our strength is in the background and experience of our Executive Director and Program Manager. Together, they are creating/leading programs, marketing and fundraising.
LORI SCHULMAN: Our Executive Director
Above all else, Lori is Izzi's mom. Lori and Izzi became a family through the blessing of adoption. During infancy, Izzi began exhibiting different symptoms and characteristics that eventually led her to a few diagnoses. Given Lori's professional background working with children with special needs, she jumped into action to be sure Izzi had every available therapeutic intervention to help her reach her potential.
A Certified Professional Coach, Lori began her career as a teacher before specializing in the field of autism as a behavioral consultant. Lori has served as the Executive Director of the HollyRod Foundation, and Deputy Director of CoachArt, both Los Angeles-based non-profits. Lori has also served as Assistant Head of School for Temple Emanuel Academy Day School. In 2014 Lori was named to the SENG Honor Roll for her work with children who are Twice-Exceptional.
The three years between 2nd and 4th grade were very scary for Lori. The depths of Izzi's depression and suicidal thoughts prompted Lori to make a life change for Izzi by moving to Kansas. The move has truly been life-changing for Izzi in the most positive way. Now that Izzi is happy again, Lori is beyond excited to make Izzi's dream of ending bullying and suicidal thoughts in young children come true.
JESSICA FRASER: Our Program Director
Jess, Lori, and Izzi have a long history together both professionally and personally. Jess first worked with Lori providing services for children with autism. Later, Jess became Izzi's nanny and through their mutual love of this special girl, she quickly graduated from nanny to auntie and employee to friend. Jess loved and supported Lori and Izzi from afar during their darkest days and was thrilled when they finally made the move to join her in Kansas for a fresh start.
Jess is a wife to Jason, mom to 3 crazy boys, and just beginning to embark on a new adventure into providing foster care. Jess taught kindergarten and has degrees in early childhood and elementary education, training which serves her well as a mama, an auntie, and working closely with Lori and Izzi to Bring Back Nice near and far! In each of her roles, Jess strives to show the children (and the grownups) in her life the importance of character development, integrity, and living a life of love and service. She is thrilled to be a part of Izzi's movement to Bring Back Nice, because with just a little help and direction every kid can be a NICEkid™!
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Having just formed in late 2017, as of January 2018, we have not yet officially announced the organization. In just six weeks of "quietly" announcing Bring Back Nice to family and friends, we've already had children take the NICEkid™ pledge, are doing a test group of the journal, and started receiving donations. Our goal is to formally announce the organization by mid-February 2018 and start creating buzz to #BringBackNice.
