Workforce Development Center
The Real Estate Foundation and the College are working on renovating a 18,500 square foot building in a designated Opportunity Zone in Buena Vista, Virginia which includes the areas of Rockbridge County and Lexington City. The project will develop a new manufacturing training center and entrepreneurial incubator/makers-space. The project will expand the college's capacity to deliver in-demand training and industry credentials in the areas of advanced manufacturing, machining, welding, HVAC, and diesel mechanic. Once completed, the project will help upskill the region's workforce by providing a pipeline of skilled workers in high demand fields, which will bolster workforce development, create jobs, attract private investment, and strengthen the regional economy.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The overall goals of the MGCC Real Estate Foundation are:
- Advance the College through gifts of real estate and property.
- Serve as the efficient conduit through which gifts of real estate and property are received and liquidated.
- Participate in the stewardship of real estate in support of the College.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. A community college education is a pathway out of poverty for many individuals. The focus of the MGCC Real Estate Foundation is to open new educational opportunities in an area of the college's service region that is not fully served with additional programs.
2. In addition, the development of a new workforce center will provide training opportunities for the unemployed in the region and the under-employed at local businesses to give them the skills necessary to become more productive.
3. Access to workforce training in the areas of electrical, plumbing, diesel mechanic, HVAC, CDL, machining, and others will provide the local individuals an opportunity to earn an industry-recognized credential making them attractive to the local employers.
