What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our organization sends care packages to deployed troops. By send a care package we feel that we are sending a little bit of "home" to them. We have been told that "Getting a package from home - Means EVERYTHING!" They need to know we care! While no studies have been done to show any correlation with PTSD our belief is that a simple package can and does make a difference. We are providing comfort and care items to deployed troops. They are often away from home for the very first time and are in extremely dangerous locations and situations.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal this year is to ship over 1000 care packages by April 7th. Last year we broke all records and shipped 983. Our goal is to raise enought funds to cover the approximate shipping costs of $17,000. Our next goal is to work with veterans groups and schools to bring them together to sort pack and ship care items.

We rely on the goodness and strength of our community and the volunteers we have. We do this by actively contacting Veterans organizations, Schools, Churches, Businesses and Community Groups. We do this through, phone, email, and social media. We strive to get appointments to attend the various meetings and to speak at their meetings.

We have a Gold Star Wife, daughter and 2 Gold Star Mothers that work with us. We have a tremendous amount of community support from the village and from the various veteran organizations. We have a website and social media presence.

Each year we ship more and more care packages. We do this primarily during a 2 month collection drive. The goal for us would be to do this on more of a year round basis. Currently we work out of our homes. The need for space is our next frontier. This is also a problem for us as we have kept the overhead extremely low. We are an all volunteer organization (nobody gets paid). We want to keep the overhead low so that the money donated really does send care packages to troops.
