Designing Water's Future
Designing Water’s Future is an urgent and collaborative extension and force multiplier for the many intersecting platforms, priorities, initiatives, and communities around water, food, energy, climate, environment, and the larger matrix of Sustainable Development Goals. A four-tiered global initiative: 1. An academic design challenge to shape the collective water narrative: A dynamic, curated global academic challenge to solve specific communications, data management, or policy processes related to water.
2. Crowdsourced stories and data to provide real- time information and connection for the public, and particularly youth: A sustained, participatory channel, #mywaterstory, collects, showcases, and gamifies global stories, art, and citizen science.
3. A visualization challenge to make data accessible and come alive: Students, data engineers, designers, and programmers develop powerful new ways to visualize crucial data.
4. Curated water intelligence network to support information-gathering and decision-making:
An AI-enabled back-end system draws on
the capabilities of Fourth Industrial Revolution technology to connect participants, their stories and their data to create the first bi-directional “human sensor” network of collective genius.
