What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Cornerstone Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (through Cornerstone Center for Counseling and Discipleship) provides Intensive and Standard outpatient for adults and youth. 13% of our local population has a substance abuse issue (20% of the County's population has an addiction to a substance, which is the highest in the Nation). With our Substance Abuse Treatment Program as the ONLY treatment within a 30 mile radius, it is imperative to help our community address this debilitating disorder. We are working with local schools to implement a youth drug prevention program and youth prevention program that coincides with our youth alcohol/drug treatment. We're working towards medication assisted treatment, PHP and sober living. With the lack of treatment options, prescribed medications for treatment and housing to support these individuals, the addiction rate will only increase. We have recently included Telehealth to reach individuals within ALL of California suffering from addiction.

Data
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
