Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
GIK Supply Chain
CityServe Network collects goods in-kind (GIK) from major U.S. retailers--often overstock goods and new condition returns. CityServe Network sorts and distributes GIK to church PODs (point of distribution) through CityServe warehouse distribution centers, known as HUBs. PODs make regular GIK pick-ups at their designated HUB, which they then store to distribute to households who are disadvantaged and need help. CityServe Network trains church leaders and their congregations on the best ways to use these resources to build relationships through acts of kindness in their neighboring communities.
Pastoral Community Care & Connect
The CityServe Network Pastoral Community Care & Connect program connects local pastors in the community for deeper relationships with God and each other. Designed to provide pastors with relational support that generates vitality and resilience, the program provides connect groups, self-care coaching, emotionally healthy cohort, date night, family night, retreat, giveaways, and access to community resources.
Farmers to Families Food Box Program
In collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture, CityServe Network utilizes its GIK Supply Chain model to deliver food boxes from the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program through the “Last Mile of Need.” On April 17, 2020, the USDA announced the program as part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program developed to help farmers, ranchers, and consumers in response to the COVID-19 national emergency. The USDA has approved contracts to suppliers for meat, produce, and dairy packaging and distribution to food banks, nonprofit and faith-based organizations.CityServe Network coordinates with USDA approved contractors to deliver food box truckloads to CityServe HUB. CityServe PODs pick up food boxes from their designated HUB to distribute to households living in the “Last Mile of Need.”
Educational Collaborative
The CityServe Network Educational Collaborative offers job skills certifications and life skills wrap-around training to underserved individuals in the community. In partnership with Bakersfield College, the County of Kern, Employers Training Resource, and Bakersfield Adult School, CityServe Network offers hope and better life opportunities to individuals residing in homeless shelters, poverty, or with extenuating life circumstances.
Service Provider - M Street Navigation Center
As a service provider at the M Street Navigation Center, CityServe Network staffs and operate the M Street Cafe, trains and certifies center volunteers, connects recipients with the CityServe Educational Collaborative, and builds relationships for lasting change through feeding programs.
