What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

For almost a decade, Syrians lives have been disrupted daily by violence. Daily, there are direct attacks against civilians. 6.2 million people are currently internally displaced within Syria’s borders. That’s 1 person fleeing every minute since the conflict began in 2011. The ongoing violent conflict in Syria, now in its ninth year, has brought about a massive sustained humanitarian crisis. The disruption and displacement of prolonged violent conflict leaves many without access to healthcare. There is a severe shortage of facilities and of trained medical professionals inside Syria, and millions of people in need.

Population(s) Served

Abdulmawla was a young man at his tender-age when his life has turned upside down, like a real nightmare, since he lost one of his lower limbs during the long-standing Syrian crisis over the last 7 years.

Although despair was about to take his life, he did not give up and he kept struggling to survive until he arrived at the Syrian National prosthetic centre in which he highly believed and was being served and provided with the comfortable fitting prosthesis and the needed physiotherapy sessions.

Population(s) Served

HealthySyriaTB is a program that has been initially designed and developed in 2016, to cover the basic needs of the field medical centers in Syria.

The program is envisioned to be a skeleton for healthcare quality and strategies development, to provide standardized and accurate healthcare reports, research databases, and to serve as the foundation for a future national program for medical care and databases. To facilitate implementing the program we planned to develop it in multiple versions.

Population(s) Served

Al-Ekha`a is one of the largest and most important healthcare centers in Atemh, Northwestern Syria. It resides in the middle of the refugee camps and serves a population that is currently estimated to be 500,000 people. This population number is constantly changing due to the displacement movement. The center is specialized in women’s and children’s health, and serves an average of 5,500 patients per month.

Population(s) Served

In 2019, responding to a lack of healthcare providers within the Duhok Governate of the Kurdish Region of Iraq (KRI), SEMA US has agreed to undertake the implementation and operation of a primary healthcare center (PHC) in Mamilian Camp, Duhok Governate in the KRI.

The center provides general medical consultations and reproductive health consultations focused on family planning, antenatal care, and postnatal care. The clinic provides necessary medication to patients as per of their needs and availability. Furthermore, the clinic will refer cases to higher level of medical care centers in Duhok Governorate. Referral services will be closely coordinated with the Directorate of Health, Health Cluster and WHO in Duhok. The PHC services will be offered year-round and began in October 2019.
