What we aim to solve
It is Filomena Farms' objective to alleviate the monetary burden for small- to medium-sized animal rescues so that they may concentrate on saving more pets. The medical and fostering costs for small to medium-sized animal rescues often times limit their ability to save more pets from the shelters. Offering grants to these rescues will allow them the organizations that lower the euthanasia rates in animal shelters and helping families keep their pets during times of hardship.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Filomena Farms aims to to allocate grants and fund projects for animal rescues, supporting organizations that lower the euthanasia rates in animal shelters and helping families keep their pets during times of hardship that would otherwise force pets into the shelters.
For the last 20 years, Filomena Farms' founder, Sami, has dedicated herself to public service, both professionally and privately. As a long time community volunteer, activist and advocate, she has worked to make the place we live more connected through the things that matter most, a sense of worth in being. She took inspiration from her dear dog, Filomena, who like Sami had a nurturing spirit to take care of her furry neighborhood. Filomena Farms is a natural next step to honor the caring spirit of FIlomena.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Filomena Farms currently raises funds through succulent sales, special events, and donations.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The founder and president is a Master Gardener and public servant who has recruited the help of the Founding Farmers (animal rescuers from different walks of life): a former school administrator with over 25 years of experience; a former Operations Manager of a local rescue group; a dog/cat rescuer whose mission is learning anything and everything about animal and human behavior; an engineer and tech worker by profession who provides technical and logistics support for fundraising activities, including digital photography; a high school student' whose prowess is social media, and several other animal rescuers that have offered their expertise,
Filomena Farms is located at the founder's home where her backyard was turned into a beautiful dog play area where fosters can bring their pups to meet, greet, and play. This area is also utilized for hosting special fundraising events.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Filomena Farms is currently building its brand via website and social media presence. It is establishing its donor database, utilizing Network for Good. We have currently raised $1,945.50, utilizing 21% of these funds for operating costs (establishing web site, State fees, etc.).
Filomena Farms is a 501(c)(3) registered with GuideStar, Maddie's Fund, AmazonSmile, TechSoup, eBay for Charity, and Network for Good. Prior to becoming an official nonprofit organization, Filomena Farms raised a total of $2,875.00 for three different animal rescue groups: St. Francis Animal Protection Society, Underdog Animal Rescue, and Every Pet's Dream.
It is our goal to increase the dollar amount of each grant offered to small- to medium-sized animal rescue organizations. Not only increase the award, but increase the number of grants offered.
