Breaking The Cycle and Changing The Culture

Louisville, KY   |  http://www.ndky.org

Mission

Our mission is to address the destructive forces that are destroying communities in the West end of Louisville, such as: crime, drugs, violence, gangs and broken families. These forces must be confronted and we are trying to do our part by developing a model here that can also be used by other broken communities to find a path to vibrancy.

Population(s) Served

L.O.V.E. WALKS deploy knowledgeable, relatable, and caring adults connected through prayer, life experiences, and compassion. The walks are held every 6 months and focus on the neighborhood’s high crime rate, concentrated poverty, increased propensity for youth violence, high prevalence of gang activity, unemployment, and low academic performance. The goal of each walk is to connect with residents to create opportunities to listen, assess “real” versus “perceived” needs, identify potential community-led revitalization projects, and to connect with those most vulnerable and affected by the environment in which they live.

Population(s) Served
