What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
All Clear Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to creating easily accessible and navigable Solutions supporting all domains of wellness for Emergency Responders, including Healthcare Workers, and their families.
ACF was founded in 2019 with the assistance of Global Medical Response (GMR), one of the largest employers of Public Safety personnel in the U.S., to fill the gap in culturally competent resources that support these essential workers and their families. ACF has leveraged its partnership network and made significant initial investments to provide evidence-backed tools, resources, and education that are continuously being tested and refined.
ACF’s mission is to provide continually evolving Solutions to all Emergency Responders, ensuring they are well equipped to handle the stresses of the profession.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
ACF staff and Board come to the table with lived experience as Emergency Responders. This has built trust among those they serve, especially those who feel past Solutions failed to understand their unique experiences and needs. ACF fosters collaboration and seeks out intentional partnerships to build Solutions that are widely accessible and scalable.
These Solutions are:
• Made for and by Emergency Responders.
• Focus on holistic care – addressing the full spectrum of wellness needs for both individuals and their families.
• Offer relevant, evidence-backed Solutions that evolve with community needs.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
ACF has created Solutions tailored to meet the specific needs and challenges faced by Emergency Responders on the job and in their daily lives. These Solutions are designed to cover the full spectrum of wellness including mental, emotional, spiritual, relational/social, and physical.
• Responder and Family Resource Directory: A comprehensive database of vetted resources compiled by the All Clear team, this directory includes organizations, programs, resources, and tools benefiting frontline workers and their families.
• Responding to Relationships (RESPOND Online): Created in partnership with the Center for Relationship Education, this program offers over 40 relationship and communication skill modules tailored to the experience of these response professionals. Content is available in a variety of formats including in-person, train the trainer, and on demand. In one pilot program, 98% of participants reported this content improved their professional and personal relationships.
• ResponderStrong: Our mental health initiative provides access to vetted content designed to increase awareness, education, and access to culturally competent resources for Emergency Responders, their families, leaders, and clinicians.
• ResponderStrong Mental Health Curriculum (RS-MHC): a 4-hour module created specifically for these frontline workers that explores the physiology of stress, the stress injury model, suicide awareness and prevention, and resilience. This content has been integrated into various settings nationally including academies, onboarding, peer support training, and in-service training to better prepare Responders to manage the mental, emotional, and physical challenges of this high stress work.
• RS-MHC Train the Trainer: To better disseminate this training, we adopted a Train the Trainer model in the form of a one-day workshop that allows in-person or virtual attendance. Through the leveraging of corporate and grant sponsorship, this workshop is always provided to participants at no cost. To date, we have trained more than 700 facilitators across the U.S. who can then reteach it within their agencies or communities.
• YOU | ResponderStrong Wellness Tool: Burnout has been identified as one of the greatest challenges faced by Emergency Responders and their families. Available 24/7, this free and confidential platform allows users to create a private account that allows them a safe space to conduct self-assessments, explore vetted information, set personal goals, and connect with tailored resources designed to improve their overall wellbeing.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
• Over 600 facilitators trained nationally in the ResponderStrong Mental Health Curriculum (RS-MHC) at no cost to the participants.
• Assisted over 2400 users with crisis redirection.
• 98% of participants surveyed report that the RESPOND Online program helped them in both their professional and personal lives.
