Mission

The Youth Alternative Home Association (YAHA) is a private, non-profit organization serving youth and families in Southwest Wyoming.

YAHA is an alternative to institutionalized facilities, emphasizing community-based services for the entire family. YAHA provides short-term and crisis care as well as long term specialized care to youth ages 10-17. The program is designed to enhance emotional, social, educational and physical development through individual and family treatment with strong emphasis on family involvement.

YAHA will continue to meet the changing needs of youth and their families within the region of service.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

YAHA

YAHA operates a Crisis Shelter (non-court ordered) and a Group Home (court ordered) for youth typically ages 10-17. YAHA provides residential care and services to youth and families and serves approximately 130 youth each year. Education and therapeutic interventions are provided. We teach our youth that there are consequences for every action, good and bad, and they are responsible for their choices and the consequences they receive. While at YAHA, youth participate in educational groups, treatment work and counseling. Parenting education and support is provided to all families. We also offer a pre-independent living program for our older youth that will be aging out of care to help them prepare for independence.
