Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom

The Bookmark Program showcases students’ understanding and appreciation of Wyoming’s essential resources. Each year, second through fifth graders illustrate a message to their peers via the medium of a bookmark. To spread their messages, Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom assembles a committee to select the top 10-20 bookmarks from the submissions. These finalists are then published on our website, and the public can vote for a People’s Choice Award. The People’s Choice Award winner becomes one of around 10 bookmarks that are selected for mass publication and then distributed around the state.

New in 2019 – 5th Grade Classrooms can submit class projects using GIS mappings software. Using MapItFast – a cutting edge software that has been generously donated for use – students have the opportunity to learn about GIS mapping. Once classes have created their map project, students practice writing and speaking skills as they write a collaborative project report, and video their presentation for judges. The winning classroom is invited to present their project at our Annual Bookmark Celebration in Cheyenne!

The Educator of the Year recognizes an outstanding Wyoming educator who demonstrates excellence in education by implementing innovative agriculture and natural resource projects into their classroom and surrounding community. A committee then selects one educator from an impressive pool who is awarded a cash prize.
