Documentary: Fossil Country

How many of us, while on a hike, have picked up a fossil? Turning it over in your hands, admiring an extruded fish in a rock. Then you bring it home. Maybe it goes on a shelf. Seems harmless enough. But what if it happens to be a rare find, and is eventually lost in your closet? Better yet, what if you find a fossil on your own land? Instead of keeping it, you try to sell it and make a profit? And what if the more you look the more fossils you see - until you realize your land has literally thousands of fossils? What if you make it into a business? This is where it gets a little complicated and people have a lot of opinions.
‘Fossil Country’ (working title) will weave a fascinating narrative of eccentric fossil hunters, commercial dealers, tourists, museum curators and professors of paleontology, all involved in the world of fossil dealing.
