What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Teenagers in crisis
Second Story provides a safe haven and opportunities for youth victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, substance abuse, teen pregnancies; provides shelters, maternity group homes, housing for teenagers and young mothers, and counseling. BOM works with Second Story to provide food and items for teen shelters and young mothers' babies.
Homeless People
New Hope Housing provides creative and lasting solutions to end homelessness by offering homeless men, women and children the services they need to change their lives and succeed; provides shelters, housing and job opportunities for homeless people. BOM partners with New Hope Housing to provide goods as needed for their various programs.
Mothers with babies
Stanton Elementary a Title I school with 17% of the student body being homeless. Mothers need help when they have new babies as they live in poverty. BOM helps makes baskets for them as part of the Baby Bundles project. Each Bundle contains clothing, toys, books, bottles, small furnishings like blankets, diapers, wipes, and a canister of formula.
Children's Orphanage
Sonnia House is a boarding facility that offers housing to 125 orphans of Mattru Jong District in Sierra Leone. Food, shelter, and education is all provided to these vulnerable children. Children who are not part of the facility are also given aid. BOM provides school supplies, clothing, toiletries, medicine and other items as needed.
Children with Learning Disabilities
Al Amal Center provides daily educational training to about 45-60 children with mental learning disabilities and autism. The center offers programs of occupational therapy for physical and psychological rehabilitation and trains children in self-care skills for daily life, including physical, sensory and motor skills. The center also offers full boarding to orphans who have grown in the center and have no homes. BOM provides educational materials to the center for the continuation of their activities.
Children with Vision Impairments
SLB - ABCD Caringin is a school located in Bandung, Indonesia. SLB stands for Sekolah Luar Biasa in Indonesian language which means Special Needs School. This school serves about 50 underprivileged blind children in a town about 3 hours away from Jakarta. This school is a home based school with limited government funding, run by Mr. Tatang who is blind himself. SLB -ABCD was featured recently on Al Jazeera. It currently does not have any exposure to the world in terms of website. We are working with a friend of BOM who is based in Jakarta. She got in touch with Mr. Tatang who let us know what items he needed for the school. We are providing soccer balls for the vision impaired, oil paints, canvas and brushes.
