Missing in Action Remembered
Leave no man behind
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
When we first incorporated in 2018, there were 82, 332 souls still listed as Missing In Action from WWII to present. There is little attention given to the MIA's unless there is a veteran found and returned home, which will make the local news. I had the honor to attend an annual family update presented by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) in Los Angeles and was moved by the many stories of those families still hoping for some closure for their MIA loved ones. There were 2nd and 3rd generations carrying on that cause for the family. I felt that the plight of these families needed to be addressed to the general public, thus the formation of Missing In Action Remembered.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Educate the general public about those still listed as Missing In Action from WWII to present and to assist their family's in being able to attend the various annual DPAA Family Updates held throughout the country each year. This will be done via a Memorial located in Bakersfield, CA which will have a military dog tag naming each man and woman still listed a Missing In Action. At the time MIA Remembered formed, there were 82,332 souls. As each is identified and brought home, that dog tag will be made "gold" representing that they are now home and fulfilling our country's promise to Leave No Man Behind.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Complete the Memorial located in the Portrait of a Warrior Gallery Kern which will display the 82,332 dog tags.
Participate in community events such as "First Fridays" a downtown Bakersfield street community event. Wounded Heroes, Kern County Military Standdown and various Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion events.
Use social media via our website to keep our cause in front of the public.
Utilize our local media, NBS, CBS, and ABC affiliates as well as local radio media.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Currently there are over 81,500 souls still Missing In Action from World War II to present. There is little press, let alone education in our schools about the plight of the Missing In Action, as well as what the remaining families go through. Our organization is to bring this to the public attention and educate the public.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have entered into a term lease with the Portrait of a Warrior Gallery Kern, currently have approved building plans from the City of Bakersfield, and are working with a local architect and structural engineer to start construction within the next 60 days. We have the commitment from the local Bakersfield Young Marines to help with the installation of the 82,332 military dog tags that will represent those listed as still Missing in Action.
We have:
* Participated at the Wounded Heroes Annual Fundraiser at the Kern County Fair Grounds - 2019.
* Participated at the Haggard Box Car Festival, Kern County Museum - 2019
* Participated at the West Valley Car Club Show 2019 - Kern County Museum
* Participated at the Veterans of Foreign Wars California State Convention, Ontario, CA - 2019
we are looking forward to the completion of the Memorial, located at 1925 Eye St., Bakersfield, CA. and participating at the above mentioned events again in 2020.
