What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

LGBTQ+ youth often find themselves in precarious positions when they have lost the support of their families as a result of coming out or being outed as lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer... The Stonewall Fund endeavors to raise funds to create resources at colleges and universities to provide funding to these young people to gain access or remain enrolled in school. Providing a safe place and resources for food, shelter, medicine and tuition go a long way to keeping a young person safe and provide them with a degree to help them become self sufficient.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Stonewall Fund endeavors to have a Stonewall Fund at every college and university in North America to provide resources to LGBTQ+ youth that find themselves without financial support from their families as a result of coming out as lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer...

The Stonewall Fund partners with colleges and universities to raise funds to support LGBTQ+ youth. The first fully formed alliances are with the University of California, Berkeley and Alfred University in New York. Discussions are in progress with other colleges and universities and we invite you to establish a Stonewall Fund at your alma mater. Funds are mostly donated directly to the colleges and universities to avoid additional administrative costs. Donations can be made directly to the Stonewall Fund to help cover administrative costs and to provide matching fund donations to provide incentives for donors to establish Stonewall Funds at their alma maters.

The Stonewall Fund has already established two Stonewall Funds and donated over $10,000 in matching funds. The endowment at Alfred University reached it’s minimum funding goal in just over 1 year and races towards the initial overall goal of $50,000. Our demonstrated success at both Alfred University and UC Berkeley show our capability of getting these funds established and funded.

Two Stonewall Funds have been established at the University of California, Berkeley and Alfred University. Discussion are in progress with several other large state institutions. Please approach us if you would like assistance establishing a Stonewall Fund at your college or university.
