Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Music Therapy Retreats for Veterans with PTSD
We hold three-day, evidence-based retreats around the country for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). At the retreats, the veterans participate in therapeutic songwriting and guitar therapy while learning mindfulness and coping skills. Each veteran is given a brand-new acoustic guitar and paired with a professional songwriter to explore and re-frame their story. The retreat culminates in a concert and a CD to showcase all of the songs that have been written over the three days.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The goal of Music Therapy of the Rockies is to expand the number of retreats on a national level. We also plan to train more music therapists in our unique program to help expand how many trauma victims we can serve.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
In 2023 we will hold 12 music therapy retreats nationally serving both veterans and survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. We will train music therapists to run retreats and expand to new regions to serve these populations. In 2023 we will hold retreats in Tennessee, North Carolina, Missouri, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Georgia. Our goals will be to continue expanding to more states.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We will establish a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the retreats and hire additional staff. We will increase our federal grant presence through talented grant writers. We will strengthen our relationships with the Wounded Warrior Project, Breedlove Guitars, our talented songwriters and music therapists to provide the highest quality music therapy program.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2022, we held 8 music therapy retreats in 4 states and served 39 veterans and survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. Since 2019, we have held 21 music therapy retreats serving 112 veterans and 7 survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. We successfully released a compilation of Stories and Songs from the Farm as a fundraiser and signed 12 veterans as professional writers with BMI and ASCAP. Our founder, Mack Bailey, has been invited to speak at the Music and Health Institue at Berklee College in Boston as part of the Intersection of Music and Mental Health: Military and Veterans symposium.
