Programs and results

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The problem Wenzel's Wayside see's in the world, is the lack of education, the lack of clean water, the lack of medical aid, food, and technology. We see in communities/ villages around the world that people are not given the skills or education to know there is so much available to them if they were able to learn what is there. We see the problem cripples communities. The communities can't grow because of these lack of items.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Enrich a Child

We enrich children that need education, through our child sponsorship program, we need support for over 100 of the poorest children in the slums of Mbale, Uganda at Divine Care Primary School. Education opens doors for these children to build their livelihood when they become an adult. It helps them to move on into college and build a career.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth

We Enrich teachers, staff and countless volunteers who are passionate about transforming these children’s lives at Divine Care Primary School. The Ugandan government pays a teacher $127.72 a month, but at a private school, where higher standards are set, the teachers make ½ of that.

Population(s) Served
Adults

We enrich lives through community development. We recognize the needs in an impoverished community and build them up by providing disaster relief, clean water, running toilets, water to their homes, solar, and medical care.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We here at Wenzel’s Wayside created our Enrich Lives Non Profit to “enriching lives along the way”. We want to go beyond just ourselves and help others all over the world and in our local communities that are either in extreme poverty/ or need by providing: Quality and equal educational opportunities to children and adults and life-changing resources such as:
Clean water
Solar
Medical aid
Food
Education

We enrich children that need education, through our child sponsorship program. Education opens doors for these children to build their livelihood when they become an adult. It helps them to move on into college and build a career.

We Enrich teachers, staff and countless volunteers who are passionate about transforming children’s lives. For example: The Ugandan government pays a teacher $127.72 a month, but at a private school, where higher standards are set, the teachers make ½ of that. So we are trying to raise teachers salaries in these poor communities for a more quality education.

We enrich lives through community development. We recognize the needs in an impoverished community and build them up by providing disaster relief, clean water, running toilets, water to their homes, solar, and medical care buy paying salaries for full time nurses.

Right now, we are working with a local community in Mbale Uganda, doing just that. We have partnered with the headmaster at a school in Namabasa (a rural village of Mbale), were we are supporting 8 teachers, trying to raise support for 70 children at the school, raising funds to put solar on the school and a home in the village where the teachers live and raising money to pay a nurses salary for the village that the school is located in to eradicate the worm epidemic in that village.

Through social media, our website, James and Kellie Wenzel's travels around the world, and through the support of US based people, churches and organizations, we are moving forward in this mission of Enrich Lives.

So far we have raised enough money to increase the salaries of 8 teachers for a year! We raised over $3000 and installed sewer, a full functioning bathroom (toliet, sink and shower) and a hot water tank for the headmasters home, who lives in the slums of Mbale.
We currently have raised over $3000 for the solar project on the school that will provide electricity, where there is none, and then be able to provide computers to all the children, to open them up to the world!

What's next?
We still need the children supported at the school, so they have 2 meals a day, uniforms, books, paid tuition for an education.
We still need to raise the salary for a nurse.
We still need to raise the complete funds for the solar project.
Once this school is fully funded, then we will start on another project, that, "Enriches Lives Along the Way"!
