What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Many people today, both men and women, have gotten caught in a cycle of addiction, poverty, and crime. Putting them in jail is what we do, but it is a huge part of the cycle, because after the folks get out of jail, it's harder to find a job, they have usually lost everything, and they've also lost social connections and hope. Often they return to the cycle they know, because it's easier than finding a new way. We exist to help them begin to build a new community while they are still inside.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our organization's goal is to bring new hope and direction to those who are incarcerated or homeless, through experiencing the love of God through Jesus Christ and through the teams we take into the jails and shelters to teach the residents a new, better way. We help them to make positive connections and give them resources to help them establish new relationships outside.

We tell them how we have found new life. We invite them to receive the love and hope that comes through Jesus Christ, and we offer them friendship and resources to help them when they come out of jail or prison. We partner with local churches to provide food and relationships, and we develop a resource list to hand them while we are there.

We are a completely volunteer led organization. Our capabilities are in our people who want to do good and offer hope to those we minister to. We want to change the atmosphere and the violence that happens in our jails and prisons and prevent recidivism.

We've hosted three REC weekends and have two currently scheduled. The pandemic has prevented us from being allowed in the past year but we are ready and willing to get back in there We're growing this outreach to jails that are not currently being served by an REC. We're hearing about changed lives and folks are connecting with our ministry after they leave jail. We hope to expand into Marion County, Morgan County, and Hancock county next.
