What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

In many developing nations around the world, there is insufficient care given to the most vulnerable - children. Immanuel Children's Foundation started with a vision to establish and/or support structures aimed at caring for vulnerable children. Our first venture is a children's home in Guatemala, opened in January 2020 to house and care for children rescued from dangerous situations.

Asociacion Immanuel Hogar para Ninos

Licensed, private children's home in Guatemala providing everyday care to up to 20 at risk children of all ages. Each child is seen as a precious gift from God and care is tailored to the needs of each child. We provide for the nutritional, educational, and medical needs of the children entrusted to our care. Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our broad vision is the care and protection of children in vulnerable situations. The children's home we established in Guatemala has as its goal the care and protection of rescued children who have been placed with them by the court system until such time as a suitable permanent home is found.

For the home we are supporting in Guatemala, our approach is as follows -

-Work closely with the courts and child protective services (PGN) to investigate alternative placements for children removed from their homes due to dangerous situations

-While the children reside at the children's home
---Provide quality, private education
---Provide nutritious meals
---Provide psychological counseling
---Provide visitations with court approved family members and prospective adoptive families
---Provide medical care and medicines as needed
---Provide daily devotional times and attend weekly worship services at a local church

Financial: As raising funds is a key priority and need, we are expending most of the resources on the US side toward building a stable base of financial support. Our current Board Chair has an MBA and will utilize his knowledge and skills to this end.

Operational: The current Executive Director has a certificate in non-profit management and will utilize her knowledge and experience to establish processes in the operation of the home in collaboration with the Guatemalan staff of the children's home. Higher level staff - including operations director, lawyer, social worker, psychologist - are all Guatemalan and have many years of experience in their fields.

Accomplishments
-The children's home was opened on Jan 6, 2020. We currently have 14 children in our care.
-3 children recently found a permanent home after 3 years in the system. They were with us from Jan - May.
-The children's home is fully staffed.
-We are developing positive relationships with juvenile court judges in 4 geographic areas.

What's Next
-With the current COVID crisis, much of our plans are on hold. Guatemalan courts and schools are closed and public transportation has ceased. During this time, we are focusing on working with the school to ensure children continue some level of academic activity. In the States, we are working on an online fundraiser and identifying donors and building relationships. in the near future, we will research possible grant opportunities.
