March For Mammograms
This initiative directly addresses the state's growing late-stage breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates-especially in communities of color. Several zip codes have been identified as regions housing the greatest need for access to these life-saving screenings. This program involves the community by getting participants active with exercise while also raising awareness and critical resources to fund free mammograms for groups identified with no insurance and at-risk. In partnership with several agencies, BarbaraCares provides access to mobile mammogram units to perform free screenings for residents in targeted areas. This year, we hope to provide between 250-500 free mammograms across the state.
