R&R Boxer Rescue
A Life Line for Last Chance Dogs
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The shelters are overrun with abandoned boxers. In addition, we receive owner surrender requests daily. The shelters do not usually spay/neuter an animal going to rescue, and rare does an owner surrender come to us sterilized. In addition, a good number of the animals pulled from the shelters are ill, so in addition to the $500+ we pay for spay/neuter + bloodwork, we also do a fecal screening as well as any other testing and treatments that may be needed, such as UA testing, dental cleaning/tooth pulls, ear cleaning, and ear infections, which seem to be rampant. On average, each dog costs us well over $1000, but our adoption fee is only $400. We have amazing donors who have kept us afloat thus far, but financial support is always needed.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Saving Seniors
Rescuing senior Boxers at imminent risk of euthanasia at a high kill shelter and placing them into a loving foster home until they are adopted. These dogs often have been neglected for a considerable amount of time and require medical care. We seek to provide them with everything that a dearly loved member wants and needs.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
R&R Boxer Rescue is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing a life line to dogs at imminent risk of euthanasia at one of our many high kill shelters here in Southern California. These are the seniors, the special medical needs and those that the shelter has deemed rescue only for behavior. The latter are most often euthanized as they are labeled dog aggressive or human aggressive. In our experience the vast majority of these dogs are either just scared in the stressful crowded kill shelter environment or have not been properly socialized with other dogs. In all cases these dogs were failed by humans on at least one level and deserve a chance to be the dog they were born to be.
As the name suggests, we are primarily a Boxer rescue, but not exclusively. Our mission is simple in words, helping once forgotten dogs complete a family of their own. Just as every dog is unique, the path and process is unique for each and every one. Our commitment is to giving them the path and process they need to go on and complete a family of their very own. For some that is just some much needed Rest and Relaxation, for others it is Rescue and Rehabilitation, but at the end of the day we are here to give them their R&R.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategies are to just continue to grow our team of supporters and fosters so we can continue to save dogs. We believe that raising our adoption fee will turn adopters away, so for now we wish to keep things going as they are and properly manage our intake to stay in the green financially.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have an amazing team of fosters and volunteers, which make us moderately capable of completing our goals. We say moderately, because there are many dogs we cannot save, and we wish we had more volunteers to save more.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In the nearly 5 years of existence, our small but mighty team has saved close to 250 dogs!
