Dedicated to the Continuation and Preservation of America's Indigenous Art Form

Royal Oak, MD   |  https://jazz-alive.org/

Mission

Dedicated to the continuation and preservation of Jazz, America’s indigenous art form, Jazz Alive was created to bring this great music to audiences and students who have little to no opportunity to hear and learn from the genre’s great practitioners. Whether off jazz touring routes, lack of jazz presenters, or little funding for jazz events; Jazz Alive is committed to presenting concerts, school assemblies, master classes and school residencies in underserved communities.

What we aim to solve

In order for Jazz Alive to take our programs to underserved communities, we need funding. We are starting Jazz Tales as a way to bring attention to the organization's programs and therefore increase potential funding and attract new donors.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Jazz is America's indigenous art form. Some say it's our only indigenous art form. Yet, sadly, the support for this music is greater outside of the very country in which it was started.

Jazz Alive is located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and in many of the rural locations, which is most of the DelMarVa peninsula, many families have not had the opportunity to hear jazz live. Whether off jazz touring routes, lack of jazz presenters, or little funding for jazz events; this great national treasure is not being heard. Moreover, by not being introduced to the art form, the next generation doesn’t know the rich heritage that is jazz. Without this introduction, we are missing the opportunity to expand the audience for jazz that will help preserve and hopefully continue; America’s music.

Concerts that show the greatness of this national treasure and its benefits to our heritage as well as nurturing future generations of musicians.

With years of performance and teaching experience, the Board of Jazz Alive has the knowledge and track record able to present concerts, master classes and school residencies as long as the funding is available.

Initial roll-out of the organization resulted in donations and advance ticket purchases for the organization's first concert series. As the series progresses and more tickets sales and donations are realized, the Board will be working to schedule school residencies for the 2020-2021 school year.
