Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
WCAT Radio promotes the development of new voices in Catholic radio for the purpose of propagating the faith. WCAT Radio has developed a special ministry to Africa with its development of LIFE Runners chapters that encourage people to remember the unborn.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
WCAT Radio reaches out to Catholic podcasters to provide a platform for the syndication of their shows and develops new shows based on the themes of the publishing house, En Route Books and Media, that gave it its start in 2016. Some of the shows it develops are created by Catholics who live outside the US, and the show hosts are encouraged to conduct their programming half in English and half in their native language. Working through the home chapter in the Archdiocese of Tabora, Tanzania, WCAT Radio plants LIFE Runners chapters in both Anglophone and Francophone African dioceses.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
WCAT Radio has 21 show hosts who provide content each week and a well-connected board that can assist in technical advancement and in the establishment of partnerships. Its being a 501(c)(3) federally tax-exempt organization means that it can attract donors and granting organizations. Partnering with the Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, WCAT Radio was able to obtain office space in the Cardinal Rigali Center, which provides it with an archdiocesan address. All of these assets provide the radio station with the credibility it needs for its human resources to accomplish its mission.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The posting of 10,000 hours of radio across 70+ programs since its founding date in 2016, the establishment and maintenance of LIFE Runners chapters in 8 African countries, and the completion of a Tanzanian missionary project in 2019.
