Teacher Innovation Grants
The Education Foundation encourages St. Vrain Valley School District teachers to submit grant applications for proposals which support the District's strategic direction, supplement standard curriculum and enhance efforts to meet student learning needs.
More specifically, we are interested in providing support for proposals that:
-(are) Creative and innovative in scope
-Results in improved achievement for students
-Focus on closing the achievement gap for under-performing students
-Encourages life-long learning
Student Scholarships
The Education Foundation awards over $100,000 in scholarship to St. Vrain Valley Schools high school graduates each spring. Applications for scholarship open in December each year and are due on March 1st. Scholarships are reviewed by a committee of board members, funders and community members. Scholarships are presented at an awards ceremony in May of each year.
Crayons to Calculators
Crayons to Calculators provides students the school supplies they need to be successful as they start a new school year. In August of each year, we provide school supplies to over 4,500 students across St. Vrain Valley Schools.
Eleanor Venture Travel Grant
The Eleanor Venture Travel Grant honors the Foundation’s founder and longtime president Eleanor Flanders. This grant provides a teacher with an educational travel experience. Such an experience is expected to enhance the teacher’s classroom skills, expand curriculum options and ultimately benefit future students.
This annual grant provides the perfect tribute to Eleanor Flanders. Beginning in early WWII, Eleanor began putting away a little money here … and a little money there for her investments. She called the fund “The Eleanor Venture.” As time passed Eleanor used this money to travel … from her state college in Kansas to places all over the world. With each trip she felt renewed and energized, and her world view expanded. When asked how she might be honored upon her retirement, Eleanor looked back over her years and decided that the directors could best honor her by investing in a teacher – giving that teacher the funds for a once in a lifetime travel experience.
While such an experience can be given to only a few teachers over time, it is intended to honor all teachers and to tell them how important they are. It is expected that the trip would not only renew, energize and educate the teacher involved but that the teacher’s experience would be brought home to their classroom and to fellow teachers and students. It would provide broad-based benefits for a long time to come.
Tribute to Teachers
This awards program, sponsored by the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation, provides the opportunity for students, parents, volunteers, fellow educators, school staff, community members and business partners to recognize and honor individual teachers at the Pre-K – 12th grade levels in the St. Vrain Valley Schools who exemplify excellence in teaching. By paying tribute to teachers who have an extraordinary impact on the achievements of students, the Education Foundation and the community hope to honor the accomplishments of all teachers.
One teacher from each St. Vrain Valley School will receive the Teacher of the Year recognition for their school. Two other teachers from each school will be honored as Teacher of the Year finalists. From the school Teacher of the Year recipients, a district wide Teacher of the Year and finalists will be chosen. All St. Vrain Valley Schools are eligible for these awards!
529 Jump
A program designed to bring awareness to saving for post-secondary education by utilizing a tax-deducting 529 savings account. The goal is for every kindergartener in St. Vrain Valley Schools to have a 529 savings account. This program is partnership with St. Vrain Valley Schools, City of Longmont and CollegeInvest.
