Casa Hogar Los Angelitos Children's Home
The Casa Hogar Los Angelitos (CHLA) is an orphanage and children's home located in the area of Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. The Vision at CHLA is to provide a loving and secure home atmosphere, educational opportunity, spiritual & moral foundation, as well as emotional and physical health in a manner that can truly change the lives of children brought into CHLA's care. The Mission is to reach out to children in desperate situations and help them to develop their educational potential, gain emotional stability, hope for the future, and provide tools so that they can become positive, productive and self-fulfilled members of society. The children that come into the Casa Hogar Los Angelitos are from extreme poverty, abandoned or orphaned & many times from abusive and extremely distressed circumstances. Children ranging from birth to 18 years of age, and older if they choose to continue their education in a family atmosphere, are cared for at CHLA. Many of the children that come into care have limited or no education when they arrive; they are enrolled in the public school system, tutored and provided with continued educational support. In addition, medical, emotional & physical care is provided for the children at CHLA. Ministries of Love (Ministerios de Amor) is an outreach program based on the concept "love your neighbor as yourself." This project provides nutritional relief, medical attention, and educational opportunities to poverty-stricken children and families living in isolated mountain communities near Manzanillo. CHLA, in coordination with Ministerios de Amor, distributes food, clothing, school supplies and medical items to communities throughout the year. CHLA provies general education and cultural programs for children and youth who, otherwise, would not have had that opportunity. Providing tutoring support, materials, dedicated teachers and special programs; developing skills for social, cultural and educational success. Through cultural programs like folkloric dance, young people develop an awareness of history, self-confidence and positive cultural pride.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our MISSION is rescuing children and youth suffering from abuse, poverty, neglect, crime and abandonment by providing shelter, food, clothing, education, medical attention and opportunity for success.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Casa Hogar Los Angelitos (CHLA), is a full-time children's home in Manzanillo, Mexico, funded through TCF. This children's home is for homeless, abandoned, orphaned and abused children. CHLA gives children emotional, mental and physical care, educational opportunities and a spiritual and moral foundation. CHLA programs are provided in a home atmosphere, designed to instill positive and productive attributes to permanently change the circumstances of these children. Our programs help build the children's self-esteem and develop a life with hope and opportunity.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
To date we have a student who has been at Casa Hogar Los Angelitos for 9 years graduating for the University in the Dental field. We have three other students who are graduating high school and entering the University as well. We have a successful Expressive Arts program in our Ballet Folklorico, the kids are trained in cultural dances and perform internationally, proceeds from these performances help to keep the Expressive Arts program active. We average about 90 children who live full time in the Casa Hogar Los Angelitos.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We still need more sponsors and contributors. We have the potential to reach out to so many more kids in need. We just need the funding and support.
