Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Respite Care
The Respite Care Program Offers grant funding to ALS caregivers who need time away to tend to personal and professional tasks but need professional assistance in caring for their ALS patient. The grant presently affords $1,000 per patient per year.
Durable Medical Equipment Loan Program
The Durable Medical Equipment Loan Program offers the use of needed medical equipment - wheel chairs, lifts and other assistive devices as the patient’s needs progress.
We provide for basic daily needs - shower and commode chairs, eating utensils, etc. as well as larger more expensive equipment such as wheel chairs and lifts
At present, we have many types of wheel chairs - from the very basic and least expensive ($200) to the very intricate and costly ($30,000).
Newly Diagnosed Workshop
The Newly Diagnosed Workshop is a 4-week series of speakers and discussion about topics that pertain to people new to ALS. We cover the chapter services, medical team, community resources, funding & insurance, and caring for the caregiver. This workshop is held Quarterly, 3 times per year.
ALS/CNI Clinic
The ALS Association partners with four separate ALS clinics - three in Colorado and one in Utah. The one-stop-shop approach of the clinic brings together neurologists, physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists,
respiratory therapists, and nutritionists, as well
as others as needed, to develop a comprehensive,
coordinated treatment plan.
Learning Lab
The Learning Lab is a place to "test drive" equipment in order to find what is right for you, receive one-on-one training about caring for someone with ALS, and learn the tools and tricks for both the caregiver and person with ALS live with ALS.
