What we aim to solve
For nearly 40 years, Habitat for Humanity has promoted the importance of decent and affordable housing — and backed up those words with action. Unfortunately, in the current economic environment in the United States, the cost of housing is rising much faster than the incomes of many families. The need for affordable housing far exceeds the supply. The latest data shows that nearly 38 million households nationwide — 31.5% of all households — are paying more than 30% of their incomes on housing. That’s 20.5 million renters and 17.3 million homeowners. More than 18 million households — 1 in 6 — are paying more than half of their income on housing and are considered severely cost-burdened.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We strive to create a healthy housing market and affordable opportunities in our community, by creating access to safe and low-cost housing in Campbell County.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Energy Capital Habitat for Humanity will transform lives and community by strengthening construction projects, community projects and events. We will leverage our core family homeownership work to catalyze new pathways to simple, decent, affordable housing for more people than ever before. We will serve our community through the provision of a wide spectrum of housing solutions: Build, revitalize, educate.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With the strength of Habitat for Humanity International, our neighboring affiliates in Wyoming, a strong board of directors and volunteer base in Campbell County, we have the means to continue the work of Habitat for Humanity in Gillette.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since 1997, Energy Capital Habitat for Humanity has built homes, and provided repairs for, low-income families in Campbell County.
Our goal in 2020 is to continue the work of Habitat for Humanity while building stronger educational programs in Campbell County.
